Hell no. I love all my gifts, especially my drawing tablet. All the clothes fit.

All the gift exchanges I did with friends worked out just fine for both sides. My parents only got me what I asked for after they pestered me about what I wanted (a bunch of cozy pajama pants and ultra warm socks).

You can't blame places for wanting to limit online returns back to the stores, though. It always hurts that particular store's bottom line. In bookselling there are some things that can't even be returned to stores at all if you buy them online. They're those print on demand books. Those things are a constant pain in my ass. They're always printed really awful and they look like shit, so obviously people want to return them. I wish we didn't sell them at all.

I didn't know people return gifts they didn't like

Maybe it's because I've never received a gift for Christmas

Parents gave me a brand of socks I don't care to wear. I like having white socks of the same model from the same company. It makes matching them super easy. Throw in a brand I don't have and that doesn't mesh with the others, and it's a problem. I'm lazy. I like what works and I hate substitution. Besides, it took me months to find a solid replacement after Costco stopped carrying their white Head brand socks. I know they meant well and shopping online isn't their thing...sorta tempted to at least donate the package, but I know it's something she'll ask me about...

Regarding returning items, it doesn't bother me if someone returns something I gave them. I try to factor in what people like, but sometimes that's hard...especially with things like hand lotion and other gifts given to women. Sometimes, that scent is not your scent. I've had relatives buy me horrible perfumes before that I've just trashed if I couldn't return it. Short of everyone having an Amazon Wishlist and keeping it updating, shopping for others can be difficult.

I would not return anything, maybe exchange it if clothes don't fit me or if I already own the product, but no return, I think it is disrespectful to the person who gave it.

I just give away or re-gift gifts I can't use. Some tend to get me perfumes and cute little toiletry sets. Those I'll give away because I'm allergic to them. I like the cute sets and even get them for friends who love them but my body will not agree to having such things near it. Even some family forget about my allergies. I suppose it's because most of them grew out of theirs so they assume it will be the same for me.

I'll be exchanging two of my gifts but I don't feel bad about it. I love to read and my brother hates reading....so when he bought me two fantasy novels for xmas he read the descriptions on the back but failed to notice that they were both the 3rd books in the their respective trilogies -_-
I'm going to take them back to the bookstore and exchange them for the 1st books in those series. That seems reasonable

I got a bunch of good gifts, and the stuff I wish I could return didn't come with a gift receipt. That is how it is in my family...

Nope, because my sister got me the three RWBY things I sent her links for and my friend got me a few anime things that I didn't have yet, one thing that was on my Amazon list and that I pointed out to her even before I exchanged lists with her from Fate/Zero, and three other things that were all Sailor Moon stuff that I don't have yet but really like. And my relatives and friend all really liked what I bought them, so no worries there. I try to make sure that I get stuff that I know they'll like and/or use.

I hear you there about the allergy thing to perfumes, lotions, body washes, etc.. I have an allergy to a chemical that's used as a preservative in things like that and the break outs aren't any fun if I end up using something with it in it on accident. Luckily all of my family knows about it and I have a small family, so if they do get my anything like that it's from Bath & Body Works, a national U.S. place that sells stuff like that that I usually don't have any issues with. I have had to throw things away in the past that were from gift sets or things that I got that I never ended up using because I was afraid it might make me break out and then they were sitting around too long to give away safely.
