If a child were to talks to you, how will you respond back? Would you be kind and sweet or nasty and rude?

My Turn:

GOD! I just want to speak to a child like any other human being!

But what about you? What do you think?

Hmm, well I'm always quite sarcastic with my youngest brothers (4 and 5) since they both have a really good sense of humor and it gives me a good laugh when they tell me that they know that I didn't really mean what I said You'd be surprised how much children actually understand even at a young age.

Other than watching my language or staying away from certain taboo topics (age dependent) I tend to be in complete agreement with your philosophy.

I speak to children like I speak to adults, only with less cursing.

Depends on the kid. Also don't be weird and start chatting with some random kid.

I try my best not to speak to children. There aren't any kids in my immediate family or friend group at this point (besides my cousins' children, but they live way out of state and don't travel so I haven't seen them in years). At work sometimes I'll wave to a child if they're frantically waving to me or trying to say hi or whatever, but I keep my space and tend to try to ignore them as best I can. I really hate kids.

Just talk to them, I'm a child at heart and children seem to recognize this, can find myself playing games with them outa the blue and if it makes them happy im happy, I'm an adult, no one said I cant have fun

Depends . . . usually I try to talk to them like any other person. Then i ask them if they understand. I haven't had to do it for a while. If they are really young you need to be direct and simple. NEVER talk to a strange child unless they come to you and ask a question.

Works for me...

Same. Also, if the kid are wasn't smart, then I has to be simpler. Unless, the kid is dumb, so I don't talk to them, usually pass them over to another adult.
Importantly, I have to closed off my sense of humour, which is quite dark. Last time when I speak with child- I had almost made one kid cry and another got upset/angry from my jokes; Lucky, my gf was there to calm the boys down. (She had warned me countless time to not joke with drunker or children or authority)

I agree with the "like adults with less cursing" statement.
I basically keep my language censored and topics straying away from things that most consider "adult" (politics, religion, sex, drugs, and the likes).
Basically, it's how I treat anyone I don't know - if I meet an adult, I never know what their temperament is about certain things, so I keep it PG-13 at the most (until I learn where they align in their own mentality). Just lower the rating and you have how I treat kids.
