Maybe by then we'll have a satellite around Mars in preparation for establishing a small scientific discovery expedition.

A nuclear war will probably wipe most of us out.

A virus or bacterium. They are already becoming immune to stuff that normally kills them. Give them some years to evolve and we will have something that can rival the Black Plague.

Will be an interesting time.

There are currently medications. Take penicillin. Currently kills a wide variety of bacteria. However, newer bacteria strains are now emerging that are resistant to penicillin. Give it time and the medication may not even do anything anymore. Bacteria are a different form of mess. Think of AIDS. AIDS is a virus that has no cure currently. Take a virus like AIDS, make it transferable by air, animal and water, and then make it a bit more deadly... and you have an event that can take out 80% of the world.

This is easily done due to the fact that travel is easy. Get sick in Germany, take a plane to Japan while virus/bacteria I dormant... Get people sick in airport, they carry it to Russia, they get sick and spread it to USA... etc. Watch the movie Outbreak. It had a good depiction of this idea.

Lovely.

Everyday I'm more convinced I'll be living in a dystopia by the time I'm 49.

a plague will happen sooner or later and take out a large chunk of it just nature correcting it self either that or some echo terrorist will release a designer plague that will kill x amount of the total population and then die off

That means more McDonalds

Eventually machine will take over, I don't mean AI take over but everything become automatic. People invent immortality medicine that keeps them at age 18 and sex becomes illegal?

Kind of ironic how developing countries have large positive growth rates, while developed countries have stagnant or regressive growth rates (think India vs Japan). I think there's a lot of possibilities on how It'll play out.

-There could be a mass immigration from population dense, poor countries, to low population richer countries. (I hear the Alt-Right screaming in horror now)

-Cities get bigger (most likely and a possible dystopian outcome as well, less land for crops and such.
Soylent Green, anyone?)

-Large war, wipes out millions, maybe billions. [not a favorable option, but it might happen due to current politics (please don't open that can of worms here!)]

-New pathogens. (stated before, but I have faith in R&D. As long as it's not done by Umbrella...)

-Someone mentioned machines. I don't personally think robotics will help, nor do I think it will be at the level needed at that point. Mechanization might help if cities get bigger, but then unemployment will probably skyrocket, too (at least, in the short run).

-Someone else mentioned space travel. I find it HIGHLY unlikely that colonizing Mars will help. The amount of time and resources it would take just to send a small crew to Mars is still a complex logistical problem to solve. It's also going to take a long time for us to start making Mars an easily livable place. Even by 2030, I doubt there will be the infrastructure in place to start exporting humans to Mars in order to help levy an increasing population. Besides that, you also have the problem of selecting people who would be able to survive a place like Mars, they would have to be highly educated and physically fit enough to go there.

TL;DR Humanity is doomed and we dun goof'd.
