What are anime you dropped for some reason, but came back to. Then ended up loving it?

For me:

Oreimo - I watched the first couple episodes but found it kinda creepy. The "forbidden love" angle just didn't sit well with me. About a year latter I went back to it and loved it. Great characters, humor and just a lot of fun. Especially when Kirino started hanging out with her otaku friends and introduced Ruri (who is best girl)

There might be one or two others, but the two that come most immediately to mind are Steins;Gate and Shinsekai yori (From the New World).

With Steins;Gate I think I was on try 4 before I managed to get far enough to be loving it. It wasn't until around episode 8 that it clicked with me.

Hibike! Euphonium

It was one of those shows where I was like, "Okay, this show is not directed at me and I'm not really interested." I'm not a band geek and the first episode seemed to really really toward that direction. So I dropped it. By the end of the year, I heard people raving about the show and decided to give it another go. In the end, the characters relationships and the drama associated by the competition really brought it home for me. Kumiko is such a fantastic lead character, and she doesn't feel over the top tropey. Do they toss in some teasing? Sure, but I just thought her and Reina had a great dynamic, no romance was really needed.

Loreen you just listed 2 of my favorite shows, so I'm happy you got into them later on.

We, Without Wings. Around episode 4 or 5, I was utterly and totally confused, not liking it one bit at all, and dropped it. It was probably about a year before I decided to see if I could finish it. As it turns out, when I dropped it, if I had given it one more single episode, things would have clear up and it turns out I liked it.

I'm hoping Soul Eater will be like that.

Same here. I never dropped Stein;Gate but I was considering it until people urged me to keep going. And Like you said I believe it was episode 8 when the mind-fucks kept dropping. At that point i couldn't put it down.

There were not many anime that made that happen, (two or three), but the one that really changed for me was Shinsekai Yori.

I really didn't like the beginning and thought, that it was another random shounen anime with a basic story, but after picking it up again and watching a few episodes it proved to be anything but that.

Long story short: It became one of favourites.

Haruhi for me, though I wish I kept it dropped. Gah that was horrible.

But I was glad to watch Hyperdimension Neptunia, because after I finished I picked up the games and never stopped being a fan.

Food Wars

Hated the first two episodes, picked it up again a year later while Season 2 was running because I was hearing good things from people who IMO had good standards. Now, I'm collecting the manga.

mmm maybe Steins Gate.

I got really irritated with Mamuro's voice acting and stopped watching it but when I heard the ADR , I actually liked it. Even bought the DVD/Bluray.

Chihayafuru and WATAMOTE both series for me got lost in my back log and had like them from the start although Watamote is really weird I still liked it. Chihayafuru needs a 3rd season.
