I dropped princess tutu er 8 episodes, because I was distracted by the lack of over all plot. And then the very next episode started that ball rolling. When I rewatched it the first few episodes weren't a problem anymore.

I stopped watching one piece around episode 20 a few years back. And few months ago my parents started binge watching it, and now we're at 580 episodes.

Durarara and Kill la KIll

Durarara - watch the first 2 episodes than I stop watching it don't know why because I liked it, then about 3-4 months ago came back to it and finish it.

Kill la Kill - watch the first 8 episodes, I didn't like it that much I can't remember what I didn't like about it. I came back to it about maybe 2-3 episodes before it ended and loved it.

Gintama, watched the first episode and I thought all the jokes and everything was completely stupid. Picked it up a week later and did not regret watching the whole thing at all.

Bleach as well. Saw it first back in 2006 when I was little I thought it was the most stupid thing I've seen and at the time the only anime I liked was Naruto. Picked it back up 2 years ago and loved it, kinda feel ashamed at how I judged things when I was younger.

Konosuba.

There are oft times when I'm just not in the mood for a certain type of anime, and on the day I first watched Konosuba I was not in the mood for it. Sometimes this ends up ruining an anime for me as it gives me a bad first impression on reflex and I set it aside forever. But I came back to Konosuba recently, and I must have been in the perfect mood for it, because on my second watching it was absolutely hilarious. Very excited for season 2!

Other series are usually manga. The most prominent I can think of is Magi: Labyrinth of Magic. I tried reading it three times before finally clicking with it, because it was by the author of my beloved Sumomomo Momomo manga, and damn it, I needed more from them!! Now I'm happy collecting the volumes.

Vision of Escaflowne

I watched the first 3 episodes several years ago, but I didn't like the art style and dropped it. Started where I left off recently and loved it. The animation was painfully '90s, but the great storyline made up for it!

Gundam Unicorn. Bought first 2 episodes a couple years ago when there were mini movie format and lost interest.

When it was released as a season anime instead I found myself watching it again on CR this time and enjoyed it significantly more.

The battle mechanics in Yuki Yuna Is A Hero are ripped off directly from video games. At the point where a character says that by fighting enemies they'll gain battle experience and eventually level up, I dropped it immediately. I stopped the episode right there and walked away from the TV.

Later on I saw the show described as being dark, which confused me because that didn't match what I'd seen so far, so I gave it another chance. I wound up binge watching the remaining nine episodes in one night,\.

There might be one or two others, but the two that come most immediately to mind are Steins;Gate and Shinsekai yori (From the New World).

Shinsekai yori here as well. That "one scene" really put me off and made me drop it. Two seasons later, I gave it a second chance, managed to get past that scene and it turned out to be one of the best animes (an A1 Pictures anime at that!) I've seen. I feel like even to this day Shinsekai yori is still criminally underrated.

Free!

I tried to watch the first episode a while back and I was left feeling very concerned about Haru's unnatural obsession with water and couldn't help but wonder why none of his friends took him to a psychologist. I was determined not to watch it, thinking it was just some silly bishonen fanservice anime, but for various reasons I gave it a second chance and fell completely in love with it. Everything about it was amazing: animation, music, characters, writing. I know there are those who don't really watch it for the plot, but there's actually substance and a good story if you look past the bishonen aspect.

Also

Brother's Conflict

I thought the first episode was kinda creepy and was put off by the idea until Funimation released the dubbed version with basically an all-star cast. So I gave it another shot and there was still that part of it that I found a little creepy, but I enjoyed listening to the voice performances and found myself really enjoying all the characters. I wouldn't say it's necessarily a good show, but it's a huge guilty pleasure for me now.

Punchline - I thought it would just be full of comedy fanservice but my brother continued to watch and convinced me to do the same. It was better than I expected.

Saiyuki - Saw it on AXN years ago but didn't care much until a few days after that, I had nothing to watch and tried it. It was good.

Naruto - I watch shows on channel 7 (a local channel) and didn't watch anything from 2 but because of tons of commercials from what I was watching in 7, I tried watching what was on 2 and loved Naruto. It helps that what I was watching in 7 was a rerun so I'm not missing anything.

Clannad - Watched the 1st season years ago but most of it was boring and it was kind of a pain to sit through (finished it anyways and only liked the sad parts). Didn't try to watch season 2 until last year but I'm glad I did. That one at least has half of it being really good (the 1st half was kind of 'meh').

Toradora - Watched it here on CR years ago (when it was posted here illegally) but dur to slow internet and such, I stopped watching and didn't care anymore. Years later, it was shown on local tv and I gave it another shot and finished. Liked it.

Durarara!! - I don't know what it was, but the first time I tried watching DRRR, I just couldn't get into it. I even watched like 7 or 8 episodes of it I think, but I still ended up dropping it. But later a friend mentioned watching it, so I went back and tried again and loved it.

Blast of Tempest - I found the first few episodes pretty boring. But I remembered being kind of intrigued by some of the plot that I went back and finished it, and ended up liking it quite a bit.

Robotics;Notes - This one is interesting because I dropped this one before I actually started it. I had watched and loved Steins;Gate, and I heard that it was part of an extended universe with these two other shows, so I thought I'd try them out. Seeing that one was about crazy people warping reality, and the other was about kids making a robot as a school project, I went with Chaos;Head for sounding more interesting. I ended up really disappointed after finishing it, to the point that I didn't see a point in even starting Robotics;Notes. A few months later, I felt that may have been a little unfair, so I started it, and actually enjoyed it quite a bit.
