Post Reply Can't watch non-Premium anime episodes?

I had a Premium account until recently, when I cut back to save some money. I was content with waiting until shows are no longer exclusive for Premium members and lose the crown on the videos. So I watched shows with the commercials, which wasn't a big deal. Then, however, as of about two weeks ago, I'm suddenly unable to watch non-Premium-marked episodes, such as the rest of "Kiss Him, Not me!" and "Touken Ranbu:Hanamaru." "Fushigi Yuugi" can't even be viewed. I'm concerned. Is this a bug, or did CR change restrictions, or something?


EDIT: Interestingly enough, I appear to be able to watch some other series, such as "Yuri on Ice," but not what I've previously listed.

EDIT2: Scratch that; I'm only able to see the first episode of "Yuri on Ice," and whatnot.



UPDATE: Issue resolved (sort of). Apparently, CR is just being really weird. I can, in fact, watch them without a hitch, even though CR is notifying me of the opposite. I'm going to ignore the notifications from now on.

If you go to the /contact page and scroll down under the forms boxes, what is the "Detected Country"? Sometimes an ISP acquires a new block of addresses which used to belong elsewhere, or aren't defined at all...

It says that I'm in the USA, which is correct. I've checked my IP elsewhere, as well, which has confirmed that I'm listed in the US.

Did you temporarily visit Canada at any time? Try clearing your cookies, then log back in and see if that makes a difference.

No, I haven't been to Canada or anywhere else outside the USA, and clearing my cookies hasn't solved my issue, unfortunately.

Hmmm... The only thing I got left a couple questions..

When you say "can't watch" do you mean you can click an episode but it simply won't start? Or do you mean you are getting show pages with no episode icons to click on...

And did you add any browser extensions recently, like an ad-blocker or even https Everywhere?

Well, CR is saying that, in order to watch the rest of the videos, I need to start a free trial or buy a Premium account, as though the videos are the crown-marked new episodes only allowed to Premium members (except no crown marks are actually there).

No, no browser extensions whatsoever. Nothing but cobwebs.

There are no clues on the RSS pages for the ones which don't work for you that I can find... The FreePub dates look like you should be able to see them...

I guess at this point, you should use that contact form to report the problem, being specific about which shows/episodes you can't watch and mention the crown-less message specifically.

Sadly, no, they have ads for free users, just like anything else. And because of that, it used to frustrate me terribly to even bother with them, until I subscribed.

Shh! Don't complain... That used to happen to me occasionally back when Drama and Anime were separate subscriptions and I only had Anime. I also see that you have options for 720 and 1080 showing as well... That shouldn't be happening either.

They'll figure it out sooner or later. Or maybe they got generous, or they are going to be promoting something, but I wouldn't count on it lasting for long.

Ah those options don't work. I can only watch it on 480p

Thanks for the help, though things resolved themselves. I appear to be getting false-flags from CR on whether or not I can watch the episodes in full. It's weird, but otherwise harmless.
