Grandblu Fantasy isn't airing this season, at least the full show.

Hold up, Summer 2016 was a great season! I'll still stand by the notion that Fall 2016 was the weakest season in all of 2016. While Winter 2017 doesn't seem to have anything like Drifters, I will say it's a slight improvement at least, all things considered.

What is this? This isn't the obligatory seasonal "Fuck Anime" thread. I demand pointless negativity!

anime is dying.

fanservice is killing anime.

moe was the downfall of anime.

anime was better back in the 80's/90's.

all modern anime is otaku pandering.

always glad to be of service!

seriously, though.. I DO actually find myself watching less and less anime because there aren't as many series that draw my attention

anime really IS dying!

The only ones i'm interested in are Gintama and Little Witch Academia. Nothing else tickles my fancy.

Naw, I watched first episode yesterday, it's cool. Hard to say where its going, but doesn't matter. Anything about Akiba is good; as the best part of a show like this are the " hidden references" that American Otaku noobs wouldnt ever understand. Unless u been to Japan, and over a long period of time at that, the real fun in this show will be lost.

Perhaps, as this series progresses, I can microanalize the content and point stuff out. I noticed others here on the forum already did a few things as is. Again, I reiterate: If u never been to Japan, this show is mandatory viewing. Even if characters/plot end up boring, u need to school urself in Otaku culture; in this case, the "Anime Homeland" thereof.

I love how people say that there are less Yaoi/like shows this season even though, unlike last season, this season comes with two actual full-length shonen ai titles. Yes, it turned out that the main couple in Yuri on ice is gay but people were already complaining about all the "yaoi" last season before we knew that.
The main difference between fall and winter is that there's more normal fanservice, way more (big) romance titles and in general, more "standard anime" anime.

Yes I am aware, they are simply showing a introductory special this month. However for the purposes of this discussion, if it is in Winter, it is Winter. Doesn't mean there wont be Spring version. Like a sequel. Or something.

Well, IDK about Crunchyroll lineup, but the Yaoi or more broadly so train been going on for several seasons now. However, it was relegated to FUNimation, with for instance like 1/3-1/2 of their content: I got real angry at FUNI thus year as a result. Basically, if u have a vigina IRL, ur demographic is supposed to like that. "Female Fanservice", if there is such a thing. In Japan, its sure real at least... been there, done that...

As taken with from a broader library such as Crunchyroll, no it isn't as overwhelming. But when lots of the FUNIDubs were being wasted on such titles, it got a bit overwhelming. Perhaps my opinion therefore is biased, somewhat. In either case, Winter is better.

So you're argument is that this season is better because there aren't that many titles made for a female audience?

I guess I'm an American noob. I'll take it as a compliment since that particularly means I'm not a total geek.

I respectfully disagree with you on this being mandatory to "learn" otaku culture. I've never been to Japan/Akihabara but I've read enough articles on google and watched enough YouTube and filthy frank videos to get the gist of the otaku culture in Japan (and here in America). I guess I can't forget about certain animes I've watched that taught me how horrible a NEET or weeaboo life is.

One question though, are you American?

No, quite the contrary. What I am saying is, like everything else in life, girls have been "boxed into superposition". If other words, if u are a girl, u must like Yaoi. U cannot concievely like anything else. To some degree, the opposite with males is true as well.

So, instead of making things that girls do actually like, they flood market with sterotypical content. Put on ur princess dress, eat ur cake, and watch ur Yaoi. This effective sexism is of course, /par for the course in Japanese culture, but doesn't mean I like it either.

Where are the female main lead in a "shonen" title? Where is the female ==Naruto, Pokemon, DragonBall whatever? Or SciFi/mecca? Even dating sim games.... again, always a male-centered lead. Can girls be the focus for once?

No, because ur supposed to like romance/Yaoi. And that's it.

.....that, is why mez is angryles at times. And me a guy, so meh. But we lose out as well, if u think about it...
