So you're argument is that this season is better because there aren't that many titles made for a female audience?

No, quite the contrary. What I am saying is, like everything else in life, girls have been "boxed into superposition". If other words, if u are a girl, u must like Yaoi. U cannot concievely like anything else. To some degree, the opposite with males is true as well.

So, instead of making things that girls do actually like, they flood market with sterotypical content. Put on ur princess dress, eat ur cake, and watch ur Yaoi. This effective sexism is of course, /par for the course in Japanese culture, but doesn't mean I like it either.

Where are the female main lead in a "shonen" title? Where is the female ==Naruto, Pokemon, DragonBall whatever? Or SciFi/mecca? Even dating sim games.... again, always a male-centered lead. Can girls be the focus for once?

No, because ur supposed to like romance/Yaoi. And that's it.

.....that, is why mez is angryles at times. And me a guy, so meh. But we lose out as well, if u think about it...

Well, as I said there wasn't a lot of yaoi last season. In fact there was only one full-length anime with a gay couple but that wasn't yaoi. The problem you're describing mainly exists in anime made for a male audience. Why should we ask for female leads in shonen titles anyway? It's a shonen title. Besides the annoying thing about the female characters in anime isn't that they're not the mc it's how they're portrayed. The female characters in Gintama or Bungo Stray Dogs are perfectly fine imo, I just can't stand the typical harem and romance girls. But that shouldn't surprise me since those anime are made for men and I'm not man.

One question though, are you American?

Yes, lol. But I would call myself "intermediate" level. I am smart enough to know what I don't know, and that about it. IDK if a non-Japanese could ever properly comprehend Otaku, just as the opposite is true with "Americanism".

I used to be arrogent not unlike ur position. Thinking watching a bit of anime means u know everything, but then I went to Japan in 2005. Then again in 2007, 08, 09. I thought I had it figured out.

The arrogence.... Then I was there last summer in 2016.

The point is, u can go/live in Japan for a thousand years, and still not get it. U will learn lots of small things every time u go there. That's why Japan is so beautiful.... So much "hidden content" u probably missed the first time.

So paulchaested, I don't mean to personally insult anyone with my /condescension . However, as seen here in these forums for instance.... The reason sometimes people think "this or that anime sucks" (in this case, Akiba Strip), especially without context (there is only 1 episode) is because of a lack of understanding. That is, why the anime creators made it the way they did. This "art" is generally lost on Americans it seems, and not just anime either.

So, in order to combat this, I like to go aggro a bit while talking. Some may not like the style, but it achieves it's purpose of making people think; even if only a bit, more critically. The bottom line is, there is Anime and there is Anime. Most if the time, people only see the one. Then they make sets of uneducated judgements. Then it goes down from there.

So yes, if u never ever been to Japan, u are at a great disadvantage. Even people who have been are only slightly better. Never assume u really know anything, other then that u really don't know anything. Else, ye just end up ad one of them "typical Americans".

But no matter...... As this is becoming a /walloftext in no time flat....

Lol, see ur perpetuating the stereotype. Who says any anime is "made for boys", anyway? Perhaps some girls like the harem types. Perhaps some males like the romance type.

If we, as a society, keep labeling and therefore discriminating content, we only serve to self-perpetuate the thing we claim to hate. We have to move past the "labeling" as such, and see Anime as Anime.

As there are harem titles with good, complex and completely non-sexual hidden storylines (High School DxD), that can appeal to everyone. Just because something has lots of boobs doesn't mean there isn't some art that the anime creator didn't place there in. This one, is actually a case study of world religion, wrapped around a "marketable" context. And that is why people like it, even if they are not smart enough to see it.

So much good anime stories are lost, to the unenlightened that only thinks boobs=male anime , it is so...

You know it's kind of pointless to have a discussion with you when you always say something completely else.

Lol, no.... Perhaps just talking past each other. The point, exactly.

Just try to understand what I said. If u don't, that's fine, as it is rather high-level context. The 1 thing u should at least take away from, is that Winter content is far more diversified/better then Fall.

And make no mistake, that be a ton of Yaoi-like titles last year. Although my personal definition may be more broad then u may think; "Kiss Him, Not Me", "Endride", and all the boy club titles, to name a few.

Because that's all girls are supposed to like; no real content for you, a strong female lead is /blasphemy so says the "Japanese Overlords". But such is nonsense, of course......

It's not hard to understand. I know exactly why you're writing all of this and that's why I better stop now.

Not once in my life I ever considered that I knew everything just because I watch anime. (Ex. Shirabako Vs. the anime industry in Japan)

Side note, I don't really consider myself an otaku unless watching anime, discussing it on forums and reading/collecting manga (which I do) counts you as being an otaku.

Don't worry I don't feel insulted, you and I are just having an interesting conversation. Yes there are some people on the forums that don't fully analyze an episode or the entire show and instantly say it's great or it sucks but that something we just have to deal with it. For me I'll praise or criticize an anime until I've seen it all and did my own full analysis on it. For my personal opinion on AkibaStrip so far it's.... meh (even if I don't understand those hidden contents).

So, in order to combat this, I like to go aggro a bit while talking. Some may not like the style, but it achieves it's purpose of making people think; even if only a bit, more critically.

I will be frank, I've seen couple of your comments and posts on Funimation forums and while I can see you intentionally aggro in your conversations to make a point (which I can understand sometimes) there are times where I think you're just trolling or I just can't tell and several other people don't see past it and just writes you off as a troller. Plus you sometimes throw memes in your post and I generally don't take anyone seriously when memes are thrown in.

Ehh... I don't care too much if I'm at a disadvantage and I don't consider myself a "typical American". I'm just a very-southern raised Korean-American who simply loves anime and manga. I have very little interest in the actual otaku culture, I don't go out of my way to learn Japanese language or Japanese culture and I certainly don't try to one-up someone on Japanese knowledge as a non-Japanese (aka weeaboo behavior). However I won't deny that I'd love to learn Japanese and visit Japan someday.

I think Winter looks weak. Spring on the other hand... can't wait.

Summer of 2016 was phenomenal too.

Re: Zero
My Hero Academia (think this was Spring, but I watched it in Summer )
Berserk

We can agree on Fall being terrible

Only moe/romance? So, Chaos;Child is moe now, eh?

I would suggest you revist the lineup.... Perhaps you simply overlooked somethings.

..... I think someone doesn't know what the Chaos; Steins; Robots; Occult franchise is. Or, doesn't know what SciFi is.

Science Adventure (Japanese: 科学アドベンチャー Hepburn: Kagaku Adobenchā?) is a series of visual novel video games developed by 5pb. and Nitroplus. The first entry in the series, Chaos;Head, was released in 2008, and since then, four more main series games have been released: Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, Chaos;Child, and Steins;Gate 0. There are also four spin-off games based on Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate, and an upcoming one based on Chaos;Child. Other media based on the series has also been made, including anime, manga, light novels, drama CDs, and stage plays.

Or, perhaps doesn't know what harem is. But I digress.....
