the picture for this season is this one

sorry big file. Really excited to see this one continue and maybe towards the finish .

The first episode is 10 years from the last episode in the first season.

Glad veteran seiyuu like Tomukazu Seki is in this show as well as Yu Kobayashi who is back in Gintama and who just did Kiss Him not Me . Dont mind, Ishida san, he is one of the most popular highly paid veteran seiyuu who gets a lot of job still

Really love titles with lots of adult characters and veteran seiyuu . A show that is easy to introduce to folks who think anime is for kids. A show that is depicting a specific culture.

Yotaro's character is shaping up well. His outgoing character and appearance resemble Sukeroku but his personality comes off as distinct even in the short amount of screen time he's had with us so far.

Thanks. I spent about half an hour searching for this picture before I made this thread but couldn't find one that was big enough.

Episode 2

So desperate times call for desperate measures as Yotaro's reputation is slipping thanks to questions about his yakuza ties in the past. So with theaters giving him the ax, he resorts to showing off his tattoo in his performance, and that was a huge flop. Just when it looked like he was down and out, Yakumo lets him know that while the tattoo is a shameful reminder, it's something that he can embrace. That was great once again as Yakumo is quite the encourager there even if he isn't completely on board with the way he does things.

Damn. Dat OP tho.

Enjoyed this episode more than the last due to a better balance of characters and perhaps a sign of an upward road for Yotaro.

It's a real shame this show isn't getting anywhere near the amount of discussion that others this season are. Seems like S2 is flying even lower under the radar than S1 did.

Definitely a shame, and slightly unexpected considering how much love S1 is getting in Swaggercandy's Anime 2016 awards.

Anyway, I love the second episode for its character interactions; you can really feel the weight of history each character has with one another. And don't get me started on the animation, it's so sleek but there's also such wonderful composition of each frame. Gah, I am just so happy this is back.

Chills at the start when I heard Miyokichi sing the opening. First time hearing that since the first episode skipped the opening.

The nostalgia train kept rolling when Sukeroku's image and young Konatsu was shown. That was quite fatherly of Kikuhiko; retelling the tale Sukeroku once told Konatsu. That was probably Kikuhiko's first pleasant moment with Konatsu since her parents died. At first I thought Konatsu was crying because of the whole Yotaro and Yakuza news, but the reasons might be even worse. By the end, we saw her get out of that car. I'll assume that Higuchi (I think that's his name) is having Konatsu do things behind the scenes. Plus, how else would Higuchi know about Miyokichi other than Konatsu? Yakumo's lips are sealed. I see no reason why Yotaro would share the tale as well. That leaves Konatsu. Then, Higuchi name drops Miyokichi. Dark tidings ahead... Kikuhiko just wants to live in peace.

I also loved Yotaro's 2nd performance. Not that it was good, but rather it was brimming with restlessness. It was quite a difference from his performance just an episode before. Also, such a raunchy choice of story probably wasn't wise with young children in the audience.

Poor Yotaro. Hasn't found his own rakugo and is trouble by his past. His last performance was good at first, then was kinda dragging on, and finally jumped the shark.

You know when folks ask "What is your most anticipated show this season?" I never have an answer. I don't anticipate. I watch what's offered and then decide what I like. I'm sometimes looking forward to the subsequent seasons of shows I like, but it's never more than "looking forward to."

But this? Is my most anticipated show this season. It is something I was very happy to know was coming and that I'm eagerly looking forward to.

Same. I have only ever watched a single anime at the time that it was airing before, but I will most likely give in to impatience to watch Rakugo weekly. Normally I like to wait until things finish airing to watch, because I'm a marathoner.

I believe you recommended it to me, too, Lorry, so thanks a lot, now I have to struggle with waiting like most people do every season.

Yotaro has some serious rough times ahead of him. Not only he has to deal with slanders and the approaching death of rakugo, now there are also shady people going after Konatsu. I guess this dude will be revealed as the father of the kid? Considering the car that accompanied Konatsu to her house, they are probably some rich clan or something (yakuza?).

Oh Yotaro....

This man needs more luck in his life and I felt bad for him. At least there's Yakumo. He's like the light in a dark tunnel when it comes to storytelling so far. This second season has been an emotional rollercoaster ride already.

I may have failed to express my feelings for this show on numerous occasions, but I'll say it now. I adored this series from the very start of Season 1. The performances, especially Kikuhiko's, always kept me in rapture.

And now that the focus has leaned towards Yotaro, there was no beauty lost from this series. Though I do have a strong feeling that somewhere along the way, my heart will be rendered in shreds (that haunting tone in the OP speaks volumes), I can trust towards the fact that the story and characters will be handled with much care as it always had been.

The OP alone almost made me cry (maybe because I rewatched the first season last month). The Kikuhiko and Konatsu scene was also very emotional and I feel so bad for Yotaro. I hope he'll have at least a little bit of luck in the future.

Episode 3

Yotaro is getting into more trouble as his self-righteousness has gotten him in the doghouse again. It's a good thing he's skilled at rakugo as that is what got him through. Not only that, but he has found his own rakugo. Some things never change seeing that Yotaro is still as confrontational as ever, but he certainly has grown finding salvation through rakugo. But now he has a new style of rakugo to learn as Yakumo is still not satisfied.

After watchin' Ep 3, I'm beginning to appreciate Yotaro even more. The man's got balls. XD

And once again, Bon never fails to mesmerize with his rakugo. But his health.....
