So....military vet that clearly saw some shit shows up at FBI office hearing voices and voluntarily allows the FBI to commit him for mental evaluation.

....and that wasn't any kind of red flag?

I didn't realize that you were talking about an out of context comment that I posted to another person, since it was not included in your post... I am however a good example in that regard.

Sounds like you are just still mad you got banned

My bans are simply breaks where I am able to train and 'Level Up' just like Goku. I've officially gone a month without getting banned and I believe that is a new record. You should follow my example the next time that you get banned.

Is that why you constantly vociferate about your banning being due to moderator bias while consistently spreading your vitriolic prejudices all over the place?

You're probably not a great example to follow, you said it yourself, a month not being banned is a record.

I admit I was wrong, I tend to glance over 'quotes within quotes' when I'm in a hurry. I may have missed it. If you didn't edit it in later but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Smart choice, given that the post in question was last edited 15 minutes before you responded to it.

I edited it out for you. The rest of the post still applies.

You are correct. Terrorists win when we restrict freedom and bend the knee because of their attacks. We have done both.

Hmm. I think they care more about motivating their own people to fight than about what we think of them. If they can intimidate us into leaving them alone, that would be a win, though. They're warlords, like Muhammad was. Murdering the merchants of Mecca was a prelude to conquering the city. The importance was not making Meccans afraid, but encouraging his followers and potential recruits with victories. I'd say it's very likely that they're trying to emulate that aspect of Islam.

They aren't entirely terrorists or anarchists or anything like that. They're following guidelines set down by a historic role model in sacred texts. Just focusing on the very violent guidelines on how to build your very own empire/caliphate, rather than the nicer pillars of charity and such.

What I meant to say is, it's not really about us. We can be like Mecca and increase our caravan guards to protect against them, declare war and attack them, sign a peace treaty that ends up violated by them, it doesn't really matter. Eventually, their plan is just to conquer once they've built up enough support. They care about their own strength, not our behavior. They earn points only when they claim territory and gain recruits, not when they've influenced us.

After some consideration I've decided to close the thread. I don't see any indication that you said anything yourself that was inappropriate in this thread (unless it was deleted by someone else before the thread came to my attention), but the current situation is that what started as someone attacking you based on views you have expressed in other threads, turned into a lot of commentary that had nothing to do with the topic, and mods were unable to take action to stop it before it resulted in:

Page 1 - Ten on-topic posts
Page 2 - One on-topic post
Page 3 - Two on-topic posts
Page 4 - Three clearly on-topic posts and one kind-of on-topic post (This page is now virtually hidden, as a result of my earlier attempts to just delete the off-topic stuff before I fully realized the extent of it):

I don't want newcomers to the thread to have to read through all that off-topic conversation, and if I delete it all, the thread will be even more badly broken--probably none of pages 2 - 4 will be displayed and it would take an awful lot of new posts to "catch up" to those pages and make the on-topic posts visible again. Considering the news is a few days old now, I doubt that kind of on-topic activity would be forthcoming.

That said, while I'm not personally thrilled with having a bunch of threads that are basically just "retweets" of news presented for us to react to, discussions centered around news events are not currently forbidden, so if you feel there is still some discussion value related to this event, feel free to start again with a new post. But it might be best to let it rest for now. I'm sure there there will be other news of interest to you that you'll want to share before too long.
