You would think after two seasons of bad Chinese-produced anime that the community has mostly negatively criticized CR would get some kind of hint that they should spend licensing money elsewhere but I guess not.

CR if you read this, I love and appreciate what y'all do and I understand that you guys are living up to the "one-stop shop" motto but there are certain shows that you shouldn't waste your budget on (I'll give y'all a hint, shows like these.)

MAL can't even let me give this a 0/10 which is a shame. Maybe I'm just being insanely critical but Hitori no Shita and Bloodivores were an insult to me.

One final thing, I was hoping the image of this forum would be an amateurish MS paint job... Damn.

But we have no idea how much they are paying for these, so if they aren't paying much it might still be worth it. After all, I'm sure I'm not the only one who, while acknowledging these shows aren't very good, still watched them all the way through, so enough people might be watching to make a little money anyway. And having it adds to the percentage of anime they get, and number of shows they can brag about having. If they only got crap shows, that would be bad, but since they don't, having some less great things in the mix and being able to say "we try to get everything" still has some value in terms of branding.

This was like something from the 80s animation and storywise.

... except that most '80s anime, in my experience, are not only good, but great. And, y'know, actually made in Japan.

In this case, I think Haoliners should stick to goofy stuff like To Be Hero. That type of show, they do well.

It could be that Crunchyroll didn't had to pay a penny for this and thought like; It's free, so why the hell not?

I just made it through episode 1 and I'm not sure if I'll force myself to continue might give it 1 more episode.

I was bored halfway through the OP, and it went downhill from there. I think I made it 7 minutes into the show before stopping. Terrible writing, awful stilted dialogue, and chock full of douchey, unlikable characters.

Yeah I enjoyed Hitorinoshita and Bloodivores. While they are not the best shows out there I was entertained. But this one I don't know about it. There's just something about it.... Depending on how my schedule looks after everything starts airing I may try this one again. But it didn't leave a good impression.

I tried watching the first episode but kept skipping forward to see if there were any 'good parts'. The weird filter design threw me off almost instantly when I started watching it. On the other hand I can mentally imagine the storyboarding direction for the episode while watching it 1) have secondary character drive by 2) establish main character through voice over of him describing himself 3) have character turn head so camera can focus on action happening to the side ....etc I haven't actually sat down and watched the full episode or series so I cannot say if it is good or bad at this point...it just looks...shallow...like the designs without the heart or artistic flare.

I was told that if you like K and No. 6 you'll like this... but after reading this thread, maybe the characters are just a ripoff of the whole black-and-white thing...

I'll still give it a chance, though.

Edit: Okay, tried it. Nevermind.

They switched the hairstyles. That's an.... interesting way to cover up the fact that what you're doing has been done a billion times.

Also like... pretty much every webtoon thing has this level of writing. It's frustrating.

I watched it and enjoyed it for what it is. It still doesn't look very good but I'm still finding the characters and humour entertaining. The lack of overall quality isn't bothering me as much as it did in Bloodivores because, at least so far, it's trying to tell less of a story and it's doing it with less action.

I don't know if I would necessarily recommend the show to anyone but it's far from the worst thing I've watched this season.

Spiritpact has surprised the hell out of me, for a number of reasons.

First of all, this being a Chinese manhua-based anime, and having had poor viewing experiences with the premieres of the last two seasons' Chinese entries, I went into this not really expecting much, even if it did come from Haoliners, who delivered TO BE HERO last season.

I guess it's possible for anime based on a Chinese manhua to be good after all.

What really surprised me is that this show has an engaging mix of character drama, comedy, and action, and the characters are actually interesting, which I haven't seen from ANY of the action series offerings this season. Really, the last few seasons have been pretty dry as far as engaging action/comedy/character offerings (Izetta being the only true standout on all fronts in recent memory), but this? This turned out to be THE show I was hoping I'd find this season. A nice action comedy show with character depth.

Tanmoku is a jerk, Keika is a dumbass, and Shiyou is just...man, Shiyou. XD This fricking came out of NOWHERE and I love it. I absolutely love it.
