Hmm...this error just started appearing here too.

Sometimes the shows will still play though after the error appears. Other times, it may pop up during a show and interrupt it for a second, and then the show will continue. And other time still, it just prevents the app from working at all.

Since so many other users are experiencing this issue, it must be a problem over on Crunchyroll's end. Hope they can fix it soon.

TLDR; iOS app not expecting Cloudlflare HTML instead of proper JSON.

On my Apple TV (4th gen), I've been having intermittent JSON errors and load time (get the spinning wheel and then nothing) issues for about a month now. I finally loaded the Crunchyroll app on my PS4, and that has been working fine. I much prefer the ATV interface, but until CR fixes their iOS app, I'll make due.

I have the same issue for days I hope that CC compensate the pay users for this problems because they still charge me and there's no problem in that area

Argh! It was fine last night and most of today but the error has started popping up again.

Another weird error started earlier: even while the app was running fine this morning, the app did lock up once in the middle of two different shows, and suddenly I could hear the opening themes playing against a frozen picture.

This new app has really been a bundle of problems since its release. I wish they would just give us the old app again until they solve all the problems with the new app.

This is BS. Having issue with PS3, Roku, and MacBook. Not always on my network but no real errors on those. I took my Apple TV gen 4 to a friends house with fiber and still the same issue. After two request for help from Crunchy Roll and I am a paying member I have only robot replies. In other words three months and no one at Crunchy Roll has bother to reply except robots.

I am having the same problem which started with the last TVOS update and the awful Apple TV app.
I can watch CR from my ROKU but it is a PIA to switch.

OK now I understand this is a JavaScript buffer overflow. JavaScript is a star spangled turd.

I am afraid I have also been having these issues intermittently. Playing video generally works but looking at the index or queue is often foiled by the unknown json error. Ever since the grand update to the new interface it seems like those of us using Apple TV have been suffering. Maybe we need to explicitly open tickets. The current situation is getting grim.
