Uggggghhhhhh!! I am so sick of this. The never ending JSON error. This happens almost everyday intermittently and is frustrating as hell. I pay for premium membership and can't watch what I want to watch, when I want to watch it. This is Crunchyroll's problem and I wish their network architect would get this fixed properly. They keep doing these updates that are supposed to be more this and more that, but all it does is causes more headaches and ticked off people. Not only does it not work properly on AppleTV it is also not working on ROKU 2 & 3. Luckily I can mirror from my laptop, but then my fan runs loudly next to me and it is a pain in the butt. I have been with Crunchyroll for many years and I don't want to give up on them, but for anime lovers everywhere "please get this fixed once and for all, tech staff and get this working correctly!!!"

I agree. The situation has gotten much worse since yesterday...now we can't use the app at all because the JSON error keeps interrupting every action. I even tried deleting the app from the Apple TV and re-installing it but that did not help.

These problems began when the new app was introduced.

IMO, even when the new app is working properly, it's still only as partially functional and informative as the old one was. It's harder to find shows now, no more personal viewing history, files listed in ascending order make it annoying to view recent episodes for long running shows, running times no longer available, etc., etc.,

I'm not typically a complainer but these problems have gone on for a very long time now.

Are you using the /queue? That may help you keep track of shows you are watching better, once the app starts functioning again.

Yes, thanks, but that works for shows not episodes.

The new app displays from oldest to newest, which means if you want to review any recent episodes of, say, One Piece or Naruto, you need to scroll down hundreds of episodes.

The old CR app displayed episodes from recent to oldest, so all the most recent episodes were listed near the top of the list. Ideally, we should be able to choose between displaying lists in ascending or descending order, but if only one direction is possible, the old method was preferable.

The new app also lacks the option to resume or start an episode over from the beginning. This was available in the old app and is pretty standard for other streaming services apps.

I just don't understand how the new app could be considered an improvement when it removed so much basic functionality.

(Ugh...did I say I don't normally complain much? Really, I don't.)
