You're not alone. I for one have thought that this season was downright terrible in most respects. I fully understand that Gintama has always had its action arcs. But this is just going full DBZ in every cliché way possible. "Guess what guys?! We've upped the ante by making dudebro teacher, who everyone thought was dead, an immortal being with uber powers. Now he wishes to destroy the universe b/c his feelings are hurt." How original. Now let's wait for the next big bad guy after this, who is even more powerful, so Gin-chan can ascend to Super Saiyan Level 4. And let's not forget the insertion of overly long dialogues into battles that are far too serious. Gintama has always had long dialogues in battles, but the serious ones were at least sparse. And fleshing out every bad guy's back story is becoming obnoxious, especially since this season and last season (to a much lesser extent) has been nothing but gratuitous action, but in the most cliché way possible. It no longer has its own unique charm.

To me, this season feels like they just let a bunch of fans come in and write a crappy fanservice story to help finish off the anime. I am very disappointed with this season.

Hey everyone! First post :)

I'm an American living in Japan. Big Gintama fan. Looking forward to posting here!

Also good friends with Shigi, the singer of the Gintama song "kagayaita."

I really hope Gintama's final season will get a release date next year if Sorachi-sensei decides to end the series within this year

Surely I'm not the only who thinks this show should keep going. The serious arcs are cool once in a while, but this show's fillers are the best! Even if it goes on for a few more years with filler arcs, I'd be happy.
