That pile of trash doesn't even deserve to fist bump with those 5. Why is there this BS plot where he doesn't think Onoda is strong??

Felt for Izumida and Naruko. As natural sprinters, and also runners-up from last year's sprint, not competing must have really gnawed at them. In terms of sprinting, I think Midousuji is the strongest. Of course, I highly doubt that he'll compete this early in the race. Still, I hope we get to see the strongest sprinters (Midousuji, Izumida and Naruko) face off sometime in this Inter-High.

Scummy Toudou made Onoda and Manami race during the snowstorm. It was rather nice to see those two being friendly again before they compete.

It was good to see more of Kaburagi and Doubashi's stories. I feel for Doubashi when he tried so hard, yet his teammates slack off and have the gall to pile work onto him. Also surprised that Hakone is actually lax with some of its members.

Kaburagi's talent (and gullibility) is frightening. He's had a few training sessions with the vending machine, and he's already keeping up with some of the top sprinters.

For a second I thought Midousuji was going to get that last second steal lol. Good race between the two.

Very intense finish. Impressive effort from both Kaburagi and Aoyagi (please stay with Bambi Style, the Human Bullet was goofy). I'm a little bit glad that Doubashi won since he seemed more invested in this particular checkpoint. Plus, if Kaburagi won right now, his head might inflate too much. He's a first year so he has a lot of room for growth. It's first serious sprint race and he was within milliseconds of victory. Talent is a frightening thing.

I never understood this thing with Hakone and unzipping their jerseys. Doubashi, Manami, and Izumida all do it. It might look visually striking and manly, but it would significantly increase the air friction they encounter. I mean, if physics worked the same in this world.

Teshima noticed that Hakone slowed down the pace, but didn't warn the team until the very last second? That's a bad move. Looks like Onoda is separated again. I wonder how he'll catch up this time. I'm curious since he won't be able to move when he's in the middle of a pack. Onoda would need something big, like a collision of riders in front of him, to get through.

This episode really bummed me out the direction they choose to go and make Onoda always seem weak really don't get it when everyone else is cocky and confident and strong the Captain really sucks with strategy but I guess when you didn't even make it last year what can you expect?
Onada set the all time record for the climb as a first year you get stronger every year not weaker. He has number 1 on his back go back and pick him up like Onoda did last year

I didn't expect Manami to be unleashed so early. He's arguably Hakone's strongest rider, especially in this Inter-High course with lots of climbing. I suppose he's looking to continue Toudou's Mountain God legacy by claiming the mountain tag. Good luck trying to keep up with that monster, Teshima.

Things already look bleak for Sohoku and Kyoto Fushimi hasn't even entered the picture... I do hope Onoda catches up to the squad. Surprised that he didn't just blitz past those other cyclists when he had an opening. Though he's probably just too panicked to make good decisions. Onoda could have really used some mental strengthening exercises before this competition.
