Is it selfish and inflammatory to post this?

I just want the information. REALLY do not care who does it.

Truly how I feel. With that said, could we limit users from making threads by season? If you made all of the anime for x season you cannot make a thread in the following, regardless how many or little was made in x season.

At this rate, I think maybe CR should just have a designated bot or moderator to make all the discussion topics. We would never another race again.

It should have always been like this, though it's not really fair on mods to have to do it and I don't know how technically feasible it is for a bot to be written.

I never understood this desire to be the one who starts a show thread. I don't see a lot of opportunity to inject one's own personality into a thread of this type, nor have I seen much evidence of it being done. Being the OP bestows no real benefit and not being the OP does not prevent anyone from being a key contributor to it. I find this whole thing to be absolutely ridiculous.

If only we had one person who did all the threads in a consistent and informative.... oh wait, we did have that, but someone complained. So yes we should have a bot do it, but even if it was technically feasible... someone will complain. And again the reasoning for that will completely escape me.

I myself would far prefer the absolute predictability and consistency of a bot doing it and would love to see the end of the "race" as you called it. I've considered making show threads myself for more obscure titles I worry may get overlooked. Obscure as they may be, I never did, because even in that case I find the competitive aspect stressful. I don't like the feeling that as I'm typing up the OP someone else at that exact moment may be doing the same. I type slowly and also put a lot of effort into wording, choosing the right pictures etc etc. I don't appreciate having that time and effort wasted.

As an aside, this competitive aspect I'm sure had a hand to play in the splitting of threads into anticipation and discussion. Don't even get me started on that.

Some sites has this process already. Reddit is a big example as they've been using this method (except for the first episodes but all the ones after it).

The old method was pretty informative to be honest and didn't cause issues like this. As far as I remember, there was no issues like this for any season in the past. Then policies came and here we are. Winter last year was rather tame because the idea was experimental at the time and wasn't nearly as strict like this year. (ex. Locking topics based on time-frame if two are mere seconds apart literally)

The way this policy has been in effect has bought virtually no benefit to the anime section of this board. No one is happy about it and almost everyone I've spoken to wants it either reversed or change back to the way it was before. Seeing as that is unlikely to happen, I proposed this sign-up idea at least for a way for regulars to lessen the amount of competition for certain topics. But if that really isn't going to solve anything in the end, I'd say just to have a bot or designated mod make them instead. That would resolve everything even if users don't get the opportunities to make topics themselves. Some sites already do this anyway but no site I know has mods decide by who gets a topic by because of this race. This is also extremely common and been happening on consecutive days. From this season alone (and not even all the shows aired yet), it has happened on Thursday, Friday, and today. The total number of topics locked has been four so far merely because of a stupid timeframe case, the most extreme today when two topics were merely 8 seconds part literally. And this is for shows that aren't even that hyped yet

It really should be recognized that at the very least, sign-ups will make this less frustrating (even if it's slightly). I talk to regulars often before seasons start to talk about what show they plan to open and it had been working to some degree. However, I was only talking to like 1-2 people at the time.

Not that I want to be on the front page. Agree on that. Doing it soon.

So far, the impressions you've left to me and others is that you do just want your name on the front page board. I've never seen you actively participate in any discussions.

And exactly what do you plan to discuss tomorrow?

I am opening ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka. Letting you know ahead of time so we don't have to get into some controversy about this whole race thing again.

Been following Noitamina shows for years so I'm pretty interested in discussing Kuzu no Honkai.
