This show is exclusive to Amazon Video and just like with The Great Passage, it's now up everywhere except for the US for some reason. Either they need to follow through or give up the exclusivity.

Not bad, been a while since I've seen something historically-themed like this. Hope it stays interesting.

They crammed what could've been a whole story by itself into one setup episode which left me feeling like it was a bit cut and dry, so I hope they still have something left to offer for the rest of the season to keep the characters developing.

I still haven't seen Great Passage and it looks like I might not be able to see this as well. I wonder what the snag is with Amazon US.

Episode 1

Damn, this was more brutal than I had expected. Well, maybe BD will even be uncensored.

I thought the episode was bloody and had enough impact for a historical show with its time setting. Heizou Hasegawa could be a complex character so I look forward to the show to explore more about him. That being said, I think this show has potential especially with the setting and characters. Didn't like the CGI usage at times but I think I can get used to it soon.

It really bothers me to know that they have them and for some reason are choosing not to make them available to us in the US. I'm a Prime member, but I'd even be willing to pay a little extra if they just "sold" it regular.

The show webpage is up on Amazon Video US, but the videos aren't available to be played at this time. At least that's progress, but nevertheless it's something that shouldn't be happening, not when everybody else got it without any issues.

Onihei EP 1 "Tanbei of Chigashira" AMAZON Strike

Outstanding Debut / reminds me of 91Days / Joker Game with the graphic nature like AJIN

I like the "3" principles of a thief "never kill, never steal from the poor and never rape women"

Kumehachi who is being held in jail by Hasegawa, head of the special police

Kumehachi hears about his forner boss Tanbei of Chigashira killing people and thinks it's an impostor so Kumehachi asks to help capturing him as he is familiar with the town The so called boss Tanbei finds him but now? doesnt believe un the principles . Tanbei asks Kumehachi to rejoin ( which is strange as he was kicked out ) He says yes but sets up a raid with Hasegawa who later asks Kumehachi to join as a spy

Ojun is cool

One thing you have to do on Amazon is turn on the subtitles. I was running into this, until I figured out how to activate them.

Nope, no subs. I know it's subbed in English but for some reason the English sub isn't available in Germany (you can usually choose between English and German subs) and it's only a problem with Onihei. Well, maybe we get them for the second episode.

I'm surprised how violent this show can become. Impressed in a way too although I hope they can do more with its character cast. So far, I'm not too invested in them yet.

Onihei EP 2 "Honjo, Sakura Estate"

The animation is very nice I liked the backstory scenes where it went from snow to cherry blossoms and how Hasegawa / Samanosuke were rivals for Ofusa at the Dojo 20 years ago,

I was letdown just a little ( the flow didnt fit ) a bit as the investigation / raid was quick However I get Ofusa got married / miscarroaged her husband and his brother ran her out then she met Hattori and not only ked to life of crime but revenge against her ex brother in'law.

Ofusa before / after ( now sad )

Still friends

well I finally watched

and I thinks its really good. Animation is really well done , I like the character design , the background .

As for the story , the main character is based on a real historical person that had an intersting and scary job , the forerunner of FBI and crime prevention

Here is an exerp from a book Ninja Attack!: True Tales of Assassins, Samurai, and Outlaws on Hasegawa Heizo

https://books.google.com/books?id=kUHRAgAAQBAJ&pg=PT160&lpg=PT160&dq=Hasegawa+Heiz%C5%8D+Nobutame&source=bl&ots=nu1OJubIGB&sig=kedl0loAvYuh8YP35gOfLaUkdzU&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiEvrqyu97RAhUpqFQKHd6EDvoQ6AEIIzAB#v=onepage&q=Hasegawa%20Heiz%C5%8D%20Nobutame&f=false

Enjoying all the voices I hear a lot of Veteran seiyuu among the young ones, Hosoya was really good in episode 1 .Okamoto as one of Heizo's men and senpai seiyuu Tomukazo Seki in episode 3 as the assassin ronin and Namikawa as Heizo's son.

Too bad this show is only on Amazon Prime plus the additional monthly Anime Strike fee,
