I used to do yoga regularly with my mom and I felt (physically) so good almost all the time. She has back issues, and she says it helps wonders.

Now I'm trying out yoga (again) for general health reasons. I got more depressed and lazier with age. I should pay more attention to my back, though.

I sit next to giant a mirror when I'm on my PC and I always catch myself slouching. Not suggesting everyone go out and buy a giant body mirror if you don't have one, but uh... It might make you more self aware!

I never understood the hype of yoga. I'll just run and hopefully everything will work itself out.

I've actually been working on not using my backrest now that I got a better chair that isn't broken. That kind of caused me a bunch of pain because my body is used to laying back to a shitty chair.

That sucks. Might be easier (even less burden on the back) if you place your feet on the sides rather than in front of you.
But I guess you figured that yourself already.
It's ok to lean on the backrest every now and then, as long as you remain relatively straight (i.e. not getting back in that destructive position when your back is a hypothenuse),
And ditch as much sitting as you can
e.g. you can always watch anime / read manga simply lying on the floor.
Hope it gets better soon!
If no, see another doctor (or two).

No, don't have a bicycle and sadly winter is not very consistent here... I've yet to see a good snow fall but had lots of freezing rain. Wonder if we have indoor ice skating rinks... Worth looking into.

Umm, yeah, after posting that I recalled that lots of CR users don't have snowy winter, sorry
Skating might be relatively expensive if it's on artificial rink etc.
After all I'd just check all the available indoor sports in my town and choose whatever I liked most / always wanted to try.
A good way to make new friends as well
