Episode 3

Now things are getting interesting as Grossular is up to something that will involve staging a coup, something that ACCA was established to try and prevent. In the meantime, Jean's assignment takes him to the ascension ceremony where the prince has some sinister scheme planned, and Jean draws suspicion when he decides to take a smoke. Something is definitely going on and something big is about to go down now that Jean is aware that he's just a pawn in whatever scheme Grossular has cooked up.

Episode 3

Pretty interesting episode.

Yeah, I don't trust the prince much in this show. Hopefully he can make the right choices in his mission. In the meantime, I'm really starting to like the director in this show.

Oh my god.

In this show with all these toned down, mature characters... suddenly we get this huge burst of Mamoru Miyano fabulousness.

I am in love.

He's obviously a bad guy (but likely a harmless one) but still.

Also gorgeous palaces <3<3<3<3<3 Ceiling frescoes <3<3<3<3<3 I'm in love.

Also, the King's name is Falke. I have to wonder if that's a reference to Die Fledermaus...? I feel like that's the sort of reference there would be in this show.

Intrigue, though, wow. Yes.
....... who else thinks there's a secret heir running around? Is it Jean? That would explain why they've had someone watching him since high school. But that's probably too obvious. (Also, his sister was called "princess" a couple of times, once by Nino, so there's that... but again, the scent is too strong, likely red herring. Or maybe just my obsession with royal characters, especially secret ones (hi Lulu <3))

It'd be funny if it's Kappa-kun. If it is, he probably doesn't know.

I'd like to see Jean interact with Schwan. I'd like to see Schwan interact with Kappa-kun, too.

Also Schwan's assistant was played by the voice actor who played Tsukito in Kamigami no Asobi and he sounds just like he did in that and it was just.... uuuu perfect <3

I like how the king just trolled his grandson like that. "Thank you all for coming here. Enjoy the feast. That's all. Ok. Bye."

Still waters run deep. The laid back tone really heightens the underlying political intrigue in this show. It seems like Otus is mostly getting used at the moment, but I have to wonder just how much he's actually aware of and what will happen when he takes the initiative.

....... wait when did they mention Jean's grandfather?

Herring scent grows stronger. Maybe it's not a red herring.

I don't think that's all there is to it; but yeah it was fun :p
One reason why he gathered all the big shots and didn't abdicate for his grandson probably has to to with Jean. Then again the one that gathered them was his aide not the king.

Yeah I'm sure there was another motive for gathering everyone there. It was just funny how Schwan was expecting his grandfather to announce he was going to step down and then it never happened.

I am 100% sure this show is one of those where after we finish it, or after the next season if there is one, if we go back to the first few episodes, there will be little moments and "chance" meetings and we'll be like " OOOHHHHH SSHHHHHHHH THAT HAPPENED".

Yeah. I love those sorts of shows.

I am so tempted to read the manga but the anime is so gorgeous, I don't want to read ahead. (I like movement and color art...)

With almost the entire cast acting shady, there's definitely a lot of hints early on that'll become clear later. Director Mauve looks like she knows more than just rumors. It really is interesting seeing all the top political figures in one location and comparing how they behave. It's like multiple different factions that want different things are all keeping their eyes on Jean.

Think that is why thee guy, not good with names, is having all eyes on Jean to put the spotlight on someone else. How is it I'm into this show but I never like these kind of shows? Guess this one is different and guessing this will have plot twists in many places.

The irony of agreeing to secretly investigating the rumours regarding a coup d'etat....... and later learn that the reason he's gettin' all these dagger looks was because he's rumoured to be the one that'll inflame it. Nope. e__e No pressure there. No wonder he's smokin' like a chimney out back.

After watchin' this recent episode, I'm real curious as to Jean's lineage. That, and where exactly is he getting those cigs.

As for the king himself, he may be old, but indeed he hasn't lost all his senses by abdicating and giving the throne to his "one" idiotic grandson. Moreso, if all these talks of a coup has been milling about. Still, I can't help but grin at how Prince Schwan got trolled. XD Another good episode, and yup. I've decided to stick to this series.

I was curious would ACCA be considered a mystery anime for 2017?

If I remember they did mention the king having many daughters and chances are one maybe left the royalty lifestyle in some way since they never said what happened to them.
