Finally caught up! I wonder if Serval's memories got erased. Since she wasn't in the Cerulean for too long, it might have just been a portion of her memory. Kaban went full Tarzan in that daring rescue. The meow! meow! sounds she made while climbing the tree was rather amusing.

I was confused onto why she was panicking afterwards. Unless I'm missing something, Cerulean was stationary until she lit the fire. Not sure how to feel about that ending...

The Cerulean was moving until Kaban got Seval out, then it stopped. To me it came across as more like a "wait, something was just removed without me wanting it to be" on the beastie's part, and not panic but rather to lure it away from her unconscious friend.

Episode 12 (Finale)

With Kaban in trouble that Lucky can now communicate with the Friends. So on Lucky's call, reinforcements arrive with all of the Friends Kaban met along the way are coming to the rescue thanks to Lucky. After chipping away, Kaban is freed, and then using a burning paper airplane, that monster is lured to the boat and is defeated at sea becoming just a large rock. So with that, the day is saved and the friends are partying at the amusement park as Kaban sets off to her next journey. And then the friends decide to come along for the ride seeing that the bus stalled in the middle of the sea. Quite a fitting way to end this, and the journey will continue as the creator said it will, but at this time there's no official announcement in regards to a sequel.

Final Thoughts

This show got off to an awful start as I felt that this show wasn't sure what it wanted to be in the first episode. It starts off with being all gimmicky and full of emptiness to fill the run time giving me the impression that this show should have been a short, all while the CG animation is pretty terrible. But as the show progresses, the emptiness eventually disappears and the show becomes worthy of its popularity in Japan with a fun atmosphere, amusing antics, air of mystery, and interesting characters. This is best thought of as a kids show as there's an awful lot learned about the animals, especially with those long mid-episode eyecatches, and the adventure is pretty low-key for the most part. So in all, this is a show that is enjoyable if you give it a few episodes, approach it as if it were a kids show, and you don't mind the low-quality CG animation.

ok so here is a question for you.

Considering her origins (as shown in EP12) would Kaban-Chan be Mirai's Daughter or Clone?

I want to dub Kaban-Chan as her daughter. Some say that Mirai-chan is alive. Just very far away (which could be a motive/goal for S2). Being a clone is kind of creepy, as I had a hard time imagine Kaban-chan with lime green hair, or maybe Mirai's hair is dyed.

Honestly I am happy to be able to watch this. I was turned away from the first episode's impression, but some reason Several-chan really charmed me.

Now I am going to be dry on fun kemonomimi anime.

I too dismissed the first episode of this show but came to love it even before episodes 11&12 which were great. I would enjoy a second season and heard of some crazy sales for the guidebook+BD so it just might happen.

So glad that Kaban was saved! I was a bit sad when they parted ways, but then smiled when Serval went after Kaban. I wonder if Serval brought anyone else (and who) with her on this new journey. From the far distance, I could see the outline of a bridge. It'll be interesting to see if this is an island of Friends, or if there are actually other human inhabitants. With this show's popularity in Japan, I would be shocked if there's no second season.

This show was so surprising. I initially dropped after episode 1, but glad to have picked it up again mid-way in the season. My favorite parts are Kaban/Serval's friendship, the sense of exploration, and the Friends. The Friend's designs and personalities were really fun. There are some wonderful fanart around the net, such as:

Crested Ibis

Kaban and Serval

What a show! A perfect slice of adventure! Filled with fun, but not without its share of hair-raising moments as well.

Not going to lie - if it wasn't for the masterpiece that is Urara Meirochou, this would be my favorite anime of the year so far. I'm really going to miss it, but I believe I heard somewhere that another season may be a possibility. If so, I'll be eagerly waiting for that!

This scratched an adventure itch I've had for who knows how long. I can always count on you, Japan, both to make gems like these as well as to give them the respect they deserve, because I highly doubt they would get it here in the West..

It's sad to say goodbye, but hopefully a sequel will come out - and quickly. There are a lot of other friends out there. Forrest friends, ocean friends, cave friends - I won't be satisfied until we see the whole animal kingdom! Heck, I could watch a hundred episode series of this show!

Her gloves were slowly regenerating like her stockings, so at the end just her fingers were partially covered.
