I know a lot of people where I work who will come in sick because they can't afford to stay home.

Cause my work is not exactly generous with sick days and refuse to let people burn payed time off on short notice. The only exception is if one takes off under The Family and Medical Leave Act (which colds and usually the Flu are not covered by). Luckily, I don't get sick often.

Well, vomiting, fever or diarrhea. I just don't like mentioning it to the rest.

My parents teach 3rd and 5th grade math themselves. My mother did both prek and kindergarten. DAMN THOSE KIDS HAVE TOO MUCH ENERGY!

There's no other option. Wear a mask and go do work.

Because a common cold is common.

If your employer didn't want you to show up to work, they would have policies in place to make sure you don't work (generous sickdays or the ability to work from home). Otherwise, they're silently expecting you to show up to work so you might as well.

Now if you've caught something viral like the flu then please don't just stay home but get to a damn hospital.

Bottom line is, if you're not in a clinic or hospital then you're not sick. If you're vomiting or have diarrhea then you won't be found far from your toilet anyway.
