More birth control also means fewer abortions. Just throwing that out there.

It also means more STDs, likely to be paid for and treated by the state.

You know a proven way to not get pregnant is to not have sex, or at least wear a condom that you can get for free.
Pumping your body full of chemicals that cause all kinds of side effects later in life just so you can be irresponsible is silly anyway.

IUD's are covered under insurance, too.

Also your push for abstinence only birth control is niave and inefficient.

I thought those things were recalled or whatever because the plastic bits would break off and caused toxic shock syndrome or some shit.

Maybe a type of IUD was recalled but I seriously doubt all of them have.

Abstinence is unhealthy. And having sex isn't irresponsible; it's a normal human activity.

If we could just genetically modify everyone to never want to have sex, that would save a lot more than money.

I'm currently reading a (not very good) science fiction book where procreation is tightly controlled, and it's apparently common for people to simply take a drug that suppresses sex urges, rather than drugs or devices to prevent pregnancy. (But I also get the impression that that drug is only available to the elite.)

So in other words the elite are going to be naturally selected for removal... That sounds like a good plan. The elite just sealed their long term collective deaths.

I'd love to see the study linking availability of birth control and rates of sexual activity. Sex is generally going to happen with or without available birth control. And the pill is certainly not a substitute for a condom.

Citation needed.
Sex is irresponsible if you don't want to have a baby (or are not financially fit to have a baby even if you want one), and you'd rather pump your body with chemicals, no matter the side effects, just so you can sate your lust.

So abstaining – especially long-term – can carry some physical consequences. In women, it can cause the atrophying of underused vaginal or hip muscles, Lindau says. Vaginismus is a common condition characterized by hypersensitivity of the muscles around the opening of the vagina, she adds. Those muscles – along with the pelvic floor muscles – are important for controlling penetration, and they need to be in a relaxed state during sexual intercourse.

So I may have oversold the negatives a bit. However, it's well established that sex is much healthier than no sex.
