CNN's Marc Lamont Hill referred to Trump diversity team member Bruce LeVell as a part of a group of "mediocre Negroes" who met with the president-elect.

The characterization, which includes Pastor Darryl Scott and television host and comedian Steve Harvey, came during a panel discussion with host Don Lemon on "CNN Tonight" on Monday.

“They (the Trump transition team) keep bringing up comedians and and actors athletes to represent black interests. It’s demeaning, it’s disrespectful, and it’s condescending,” Hill argued. “Bring some people up there with expertise, Donald Trump, don’t just bring up people to entertain.”

“You weren’t even there…” retorted LeVell. “Pastor Darryl Scott, Mike Cohen, they are in the process of bringing all types of people from all over the country, from all different backgrounds. Remember the diversity coalition where we reached out to all different types of people?”

“Yeah, it was a bunch of mediocre Negroes being dragged in front of TV as a photo-op for Donald Trump’s exploitative campaign against black people. And you are an example of that,” Hill said, adding later he wasn't engaging in "name-calling."
The segment devolved into a shouting match from that point on.

Trump and his transition team have have frequently slammed CNN lately, with Trump calling the network "fake news" at a press conference.

Seems to me that you didn't actually watch the "conversation" where this comes up. He's basically criticizing Trump for undermining the diversity of African-Americans by only bringing in "mediocre negroes" (to quote) that only illustrate one aspect of the entire spectrum of diversity. It would be as if Obama had brought in Jim Carrey and Nicholas Cage when he was trying to understand the "struggles" (sic) of the Anglo-Americans (Caucasians).

It was a poor choice of words but I understand the context as to why he was saying it. Plus, kind of difficult to be racist against your own race, bruh.

Well, technically Hill was a guest on the show so I don't think that makes CNN full of racists and bigots. Honestly, I don't really care if there are racists and bigots on television, because I know I have the choice whether or not to watch, listen, or care about what they say.

What does bother me, though, is how they bring on guests and only let one man speak. Levell was hardly able to get a word into the conversation with his ten allotted seconds, but two seconds in, while he collected his thoughts, Hill and that lady started talking over him! Its really annoying, it's one of the things I didn't like about Trump. Let people speak, the point of a debate is to gather different views and opinions, not silence them :/

I loved how you only responded only to the bold. I'd have to check up on the argument however. I do not disagree however that CNN is shit. I can link an article oddly about anime that had completely intentional fabrication.

He is right. Uncle Ruckus' may happen as a result of discrimination, that one might feel the need to distance themselves or exhibit hatred against their identity.

See, you've responded with a logical course of dialogue. He, however, did not. He responded as if all he could say was "Wrong!"
Reality is - that's not considered "textbook racism" (meaning, by the sheer definition alone it wouldn't qualify as racism). This would technically be considered internalized racism.

Yes, I know it was a linguistic "loophole" that I'm focusing on. I usually respond with something as such to see just how well the troll will take his own bait... ergo, why I called him out and carried on.

if you have a look at the full list of people in trumps NDC (which is quite large) you will see theres much more than just "actors and comedians"

anyone commenting as such hasnt tried to see if this has any truth whatsoever.

If CNN is so bad how come you lot have to stretch so much to get any dirt on them? It's really not something you should need that much effort and bullshit to do.

Indeed. Like I said before there are plenty of things to criticize CNN for without having to go to such lengths to make shit up. But they have this weird sort of retroactive-truth thing going on. Trump lies about something so they retroactively have to prove it true. Trump calls CNN fake news so they retroactively have to come up with bullshit reasons to support Trump's reality.

It'd be sort of funny if it wasn't so frightening the lengths some people are going.
