Can we cool it with the reports? I realize that many of you are emotionally charged in politics and it is something that many of us will never see eye to eye on but reporting every single thing you disagree with or are offended by isn't helping. It is simply making the mods have to use more of the time that they need for more important things.

From what I've observed 9 times out of 10 these reports don't even seem to be offenses worthy of the report. That's not to say that you shouldn't report things that go against CrunchyRoll rules or are very negative in connotation. But using it as a "I hate what this guy thinks" button is only making us all look bad.

Welcome to Crunchyroll

The majority of times I reserve the report function to situations where the person has been blatantly racist (*coughcough*). I will admit that I ended up reporting something irrelevant the other day, mostly because it's kind of silly to have so many shitposts about the same thing each day.

But I have seen more "I don't like what this person has said, so I'm reporting it" reported comments lately (in the past week). I think it's either the tensions altogether on both sides or just people tired of CR being so overly political.

Honestly I have had enough of American politics. I've actually logged out of Facebook for the first time in a long while just to avoid the inauguration day posts from both sides of the aisle. And while I know people are very, VERY emotionally charged over the events of the past few months, I'd wish they'd have some consideration for those of us who use anime as an escape from the shitty game called reality.

So unless it's about an anime that has Donald Trump as the main villain and he gets himself slugged by Saitama or the Macross Elysion drops a dimensional warhead on the White House, I don't want to hear about it on Crunchyroll. I will, however, say this - I haven't reported anyone over political posts, and unless it's very racist or offensive content, a personal attack, or something that breaks the TOS, I never will. People have the right to their opinions, so unless it's flame-bait I never report people for expressing themselves. I just wish people would be considerate, is all.

Maybe next Republican, we'll have another doughy old rich-angry House of Representatives dude who DOESN'T appeal to the insecure, resentful, misogynist fantasies of misunderstood high-school Internet Trolls, and doesn't promise to gloriously vanquish their enemies for them.
Then the Trolls will go back to not personally investing so much of their identity into politics online again.

The first clip is Trump insulting someone for stuttering.

Good to know he's not a hypocrite or anything.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Keep it clean folks, we just lost half a page of posts for a reason. Please follow the advice of the OP, it was good advice.

Well, to be fair, the reports aren't usually just because someone said something someone else disagrees with, it's because someone said that something in a not very nice way. They usually do have some merit, even if after due consideration we decide they fall short of needing action. It is tiring as a mod to have to make the judgment call of if it was so very not nice that it counts as inflammatory, or hightly offensive, or is a thinly veiled insult toward other users instead of groups of people in general. But I guess that's also what we are here for. I do think it's good for folks to adopt a bit of a thick skin if they are going to walk around in the political threads, but I also think it's good for people to find ways to express their passions in ways that make people care about listening to them, rather than in ways that make others want to kick them to the ground or yell "la la la I can't hear you."

As to reports because someone has a wrong different opinion -- we see many more of those about show reviews than about anything else! Sometimes the reason given is even "they're wrong!"

You do a very good job Lorreen. I agree that civil discussion is paramount. Once you start insulting others you fail at trying to convince them by definition. And if you aren't trying to debate or convince someone then you are just spouting off. Which is fine, but realize what it is.

This is all going to die down soon anyways. Mostly.
