This might explain a bit of it:


How did this kindergartener find herself in the spotlight in the first place? Ai-chan's mother is apparently a 25-year-old former idol, and that may have contributed to her rise in fame.


Mom was an idol and got pregnant at 18-19? That would have ended her career instantly.

Now to live on vicariously through her daughter? >.>

I have a friend who's an idol, and they often ask me why I hate idol culture so much.

Thank you for giving me something to help put that into perspective.

good question. in the west, it's illegal to have minors work. but maybe it's different in Japan
as for the why, you'd have to ask Japan.


Plenty of child actors in Hollywood. Lots of children appear on TV shows, movies, Sesame Street, etc, etc, etc.

She's 6. She won't care about it or remember it in 10 years, and neither will anyone else. Kid talk is usually treated as such.
