It looks like mere hours into his presidency Trump has replaced the climate change webpage with this abomination:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/america-first-energy

My issue here is pretty simple. The party is implicit in its old ways even though Trump campaigned on economic change. Hell I'd argue it is even more extreme then before because now they don't seem to have to be adherent to any sort of party line ethics. Trump is going to put money into a dieing industry that won't save jobs. What it is though? Highly profitable to executives temporally. That's it folks. Don't let him fool you otherwise. Economists have seen the potential for a green energy economy and written about it extensively. But those pursuits were utterly and entirely ignored by the right.

This is the Problem with the modern day Republican party. It is not beholden to any sort of ethics or scientific endeavor. Afterall we know because the vast majority of scientists and economists agree on it that there is a very real climate threat on the horizon. China just recently invested more then 10 billion dollars in completely restructuring it's gas emitting infrastructure.

What it is beholden to? Money. The Republican party has become so synonymous with profiting pursuits that it will willingly push out scientific facts temporally if it means there is short term profit to be made.

This holds true in multiple industries.

My question is how is it that you guys can continue to support such intellectual opposition for assumed personal prosperity? How is it that a couple extra dollars means more then your future?

Nice reply, though I think the OP would appreciate more discussion though.

Evidence continues to mount of how disastrous Trump's presidency is likely to be. And this is the best counter argument his supporters can come up with.

Well, let's be fair here. Said supporters were for the most part very fair about practicing what they preached with the "lol, don't lose next time" philosophy during the Obama administration, right?

Maybe it would help to post the evidence. I would love to read it when I have the time.

If there are fundamental, irreconcilable differences that either side is not willing to civilly discuss you are just wasting time.

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Trump is going to do what he thinks is right, just like Obama did. Just be glad that he can be tossed out in only 4 years if he fucks up enough, and the longest that he can stay, is only 8 years.

My esteemed former colleague does a good job outlining it here.

And that's just one policy effect for one state. It's likely to have similar or even worse effects on other states in a similar financial situation (Kansas, Wisconsin, etc.,)

I'll have more later.

He pandered to supporters who feel they've been left behind in globalization, those whose jobs have been outmoded by nationwide economic and technological growth. His policies will have to start hitting his supporters in the wallets before they sour on Trump. Things like losing tax credits for mortgages, healthcare premium spikes/loss, or failure to revitalize the job markets for those sections of the country he's pandering to.

Wait until he cuts the size of government by 20%. There will be many fat democrats on the unemployment line. Let them compete with Illegal Immigrants for jobs, just like the rest of us.
