Crunchy has been absolutely annihilating my data usage. I was curious if the app (android for me) would someday provide an offline cache that we could download episodes to and watch offline so i dont use up all my data.

Of course this would have to be encrypted or protected to prevent piracy, but it would really really really help me out and my poor data.

I didn't know where to post this..

this has been suggested for a long while, but it won't happen. CR won't let people download episodes within the foreseeable future because of additional costs in license. if you want to download anime to watch on the go, you'll have to try other services like netflix or amazon.

A streaming service has to stream from somewhere

it's not about CR not being able to let people download - they have the technical capabilities;
rather, it's about CR not having the rights to do so. supposedly, it's expensive to let people download content, which is why only major companies like Netflix and Amazon have this option.

Stuff like this is how a lot of piraters get the files to put up as Torrents. There are people that make a game out of breaking encryption and hacking, I don't think it would bode too well for Crunchroll or the people they work with to get these fantastic series up. Sorry.
