If I had that kind of money I'll buy it in a heartbeat I'll even buy Ram but 12000 is a little overkill if you ask me

I think they only have a life-size model of Rem. But I could be wrong; I only saw this image from J-List on Christmas Eve, and as such, I didn't check to see if there was a life-size of Ram.

Keep in mind, also, that this model looks like something that isn't, um, what word should I use.....versatile? I mean, it looks like it sticks to one pose. So, you can't use it for....other things.

I'm not an otaku, however just being a bit more into anime than most people has cost me quite a bit of money to build my DVD/Blu Ray and light novel/manga collections, although I have no regrets

I started buying figurines on auctions back in 2015 and stopped mid 2016 because I realized I was spending too much money, and also because I don't have space anymore (apartment). I also bought a lot of manga which I haven't read.
I'm glad I opened my eyes.
Now I'm buying lots of expensive clothing. LOL

My current wallet busters. Darn you Japanese blu ray's and your English subtitles. FYI the Digimon blu ray's do not have English subtitles.

Japanese Blu Rays!? A moment of silence for the above poster's wallet.

one could buy a complete BD collection for way cheaper. importing individual volumes cost $250-300 per series, but a single complete disk can cost around $30-40 (assuming it's a series licensed in America). the quality might be lower than regular BDs though, idk.

That's true. Another thing I like to do is to wait until a series that wasn't available for streaming hits the secondhand market, at which point it'll be available for a relatively lower price. If one really wants to skimp they can get a copy that's in pretty bad (but still serviceable) condition, buff the disc, and get a "like new" copy for a "poor" condition price.

It can be a pretty expensive if you opt to attend conventions and start collecting BDs/mangas. The subscription themselves are usually a small portion of my overall anime-related spending.

I felt almost guilty for splurging so much in AX and a few other conventions last year; though I do consider them to be worthwhile endeavors. I've also started collecting BDs but imposed a self-restriction in that I'll only buy 1 BD per month. Setting aside a fixed budget and sensible restrictions for anime has been very helpful to me (and my wallet).

It's kinda funny. The lion's share of my leisure budget goes straight to Japan. In fact, I struggle to remember any piece of leisure budget that I give to my home country. I guess computer parts? Hardware?

Usually, when I budget out a Japan trip... well, let's just say that nearly half the expenses of a two-week trip are dedicated just for buying cool stuff. I can drop quite a lot of money in quite a short amount of time, though admittedly part of it is me thinking I gotta stock up 'cause I won't be there too often.

Do you usually book a hotel there? I find that staying in rental apartments like via AirBNB is a lot cheaper although staying in a Ryokan for 1~3 nights is definitely a good way to spend money too.

OT:
Although it's not as expensive as collecting rare prints and paintings or certain figures like Konatsuya original works, collecting anime/manga-related stuff can be pricey. A few statues and limited edition stuff will burn a hole through your wallet quick.

Why would you want to be an otaku to begin with is the real question.

One more thing to add, I keep finding some popular anime on blu-ray at some stores , but 60-65$ for 12 episodes is kinda meh.

If you are collecting it dvds, mangas, figures etc it can be super expensive.

I have been watching anime for 20 years and I really haven't spent that much. I have some dvds and that is about it. I collected more as a kid. I love looking at actual manga and reading it that way but I can't justify buying it. I know it will just sit on a book shelf after I read it to never be touched again.

Some of the figure collections I have seen are amazing. They really are. I just can't justify buying those either. Maybe I am not committed enough. XD

Yeeeeeeah, I'll buy something every once in a while. You know. TREAT YO SELF. Or maybe request it as a birthday/Christmas gift. But other than that, it's not something I can invest fully in currently.

BUT I would if I could.
