They'll probably put in a security feature to prevent this as if it were allowed it would be a huge breach of the TOS fur users and a huge breach of their license contracts with the anime companies who they stream anime for. If they allowed it then people could put the shows up on illegal sites, YouTube, things like that, and would be less likely to buy the official DVDs/Blu-Rays when they come out, which would hurt the bottom line for Crunchyroll and the anime companies. In fact, they probably already have something in place to prevent it if they're beta testing it on the site.

People's username is showed on the video that would help Crunchyroll to ban them.

Kinda expected to happen this at some point, considering how browsers are pushing to make it harder and harder on users to even use flash.

I wonder if the html5 player FINALLY will be more stable to connection issues. The crunchyroll flash player is among the least stable players I know...

I've never had a problem with the player.

what is html5?

Without technical stuff, it is a video player using a recently standardized, open-source Internet code designed to replace the soon-to-be discontinued Adobe Flash product. Flash is easy backdoor into your computer, horribly secured product.

The reason didn't happen sooner, was concerns of Digital Rights Management (piracy), and inability for advertisements to work right. If FUNINOW is any indication of sorts...

Anyways, this shouldn't be a suprise. They are gonna have to go sometime this year. Probably come with new site. Likely why the 17 were fired, new company in therefore.

no matter what you're using you can use a capture card or screen record software to record the screen, so piracy won't really go up or down by the fact that their using HTML5. But with that said they most likely are using something to protect

If you use Chrome, you don't need to have Premium+ to use an HTML5 player. You can use the CR HLS Player, which you can find in the Chrome store. It's not Crunchyroll's HTML5 player. Someone actually built one and created an extension to replace the flash player with it. It works really well. One significant advantage it has over the flash player is that it actually buffers properly and you see the buffer.

Yep! It's been there for about a weekish now.
It's only available to Premium+ customers, as far as I know.

Yup, just checked and I still have the Flash player up.

Bummers... well, they'll eventually put it on the whole site I hope.

If the manga HTML5 viewer is any indication, we will have the HTML5 video player in... never.

I think CR should switch to HTML5 players, since Flash player keep crashing lately! :/ Might as well get used to HTML5, in the future Flash may no longer be around someday. -shrugs-
