I get the feeling that if male harem lead wasn't spineless then we'll have another School Days.

Actually, being spineless was, IMO, a main problem that led to that show's outcome. Guy tries in a not-assertive-enough way to break up with girl. She's clingy and either doesn't get that he's breaking up with her or is playing "la la la I can't hear you" to manipulate him. Aaaand, instead of him saying "no, really, sorry and all but it's just not working out," he keeps up certain aspects of the relationship because he's so spineless that he won't truly, unequivocally break up with her... and drama ensues.

At least we're not in Florida.

That's my usual response to being in a strange place.

While we're on topic and now that Fuuka has an anime adaption; Can I just say that out of all the male MC's that have come and gone there are few I loath more than Yamato?

Also Suzuka, I loath her too. Two awful people that ultimately really did deserve one another. If only to save everyone else in the show from them.

I would like to see a show where the injuries that a tsundere inflicts on the protagonist actually last as long as they would in real life. Her uncontrollable violent reflexes and his miraculous ability to grab her boobs every time he trips would keep him in critical danger, and thus the show would become a survival horror.

Actually, most harem shows are based on popular Sim games, where you, the Indecisive Player, have to MAKE the judgments of juggling several stereotype-trope girls at once without the others finding out.
Because the main character is "missing", like Yu on the Persona 4 animations, the narrative main character is a bit of a cipher, and just stuck in the audience's sympathetic position of not making a decision yet at this predetermined point in the story.

(Except for Tenchi, of course, which was based on a classic Japanese love-triangle tragedy, only the anime turned it silly.)

As someone who had a girlfriend in high school to early 20s that turned out to be tsundere to put it mildly: No, she won't. >.>

In fact once she hits college and the stress of real life hits her she will probably go completely off the rails.

Every time I watch anime, and this is only sometimes, but I feel absolutely terrible for the male characters in anime. I'm talking about the ones that abused verbally and physically for no reason. I can care less about the females because they're crazy and obnoxious. It would be nice if the guys stood up for themselves and tell the girls off. Sometimes it's funny but other times it's just plain sad.

There's a perfectly good reason for that: Fear. Not the character's, just real Japanese teen boys'.
Boy and girl students are kept "responsibly" separated in school activities since the beginning of school, so girls grow up without any real comfortable idea of how to talk to boys (and go around secretly putting love letters in shoe lockers so that Senpai will notice them first), and boys grow up without any comfortable idea of how to talk to girls (and either decide that sports is more interesting, or have to admire them from afar, and objectify them into object-fetishes of glasses, maid uniforms and twin-tails).

And because Japanese boys are terrified of girls, they naturally EXPECT to be turned down. For them, it's just Life During Wartime, so they've instinctively created their own object fetishism of thinking that girls naturally will act like complete arrogant bee-yatches toward them, develop ambiguously-BDSM princess-complexes, and narcissistically treat them like dirt.
Unless you have your own maid, of course, have a girl forced to move in with you, get stuck into a girl's dorm by mistake, have an adorably devoted little sister, or end up on the wrong end of some ancient traditional marriage contract.

Guys, please go back and fix your quote pyramids and stop creating new ones.

Also, please get back on topic or go get a room.
