Today I joined Crunchyroll in order to try out the free 30-day trial. However, I don't want to give out my Paypal or my credit card information and it asked me to put either of them in, despite the fact that the trial is free. Then I wanted to try the 7-day trial and it did the same thing, so I almost gave up. But, then I found the Crunchyroll gift cards that were made by VRV. So, these are some concerns and questions I have: if I bought a Crunchyroll gift card through my (future) VRV account, can I use the main Crunchyroll website and apps (on my video game consoles and phone) ONLY, or do I HAVE to use the VRV apps in order to use the Crunchyroll channel? I'd like to know since I'd prefer having the Crunchyroll apps right there and accessibly instead of having to go through VRV in order to do it. I wouldn't see a point in having the apes installed if I can't even use it, even if I am a Premium Member through VRV. Please give me some clarification. Thanks.

As far as I'm aware there's currently no way to link your VRV and CR account so you'd have to use the VRV apps to access the Crunchyroll channel when you use a VRV subscription.
The CR website and apps would treat you like a free member.

That's sorely disappointing. I know they have the VRV apps and all, but still.

Okay then I have another question. If I used a prepaid Visa gift card to pay for the Crunchyroll subscription, would that work despite it not being an actual credit/debit card?

May or may not work. Some pre-paid card providers do not allow their cards to be used for recurring-type transactions.
You should be able to get around that by using a PayPal account as a proxy for the gift card though.

Account linking between VRV and Crunchyroll is an upcoming feature that should soon be ready.

Thanks. And one last question: since it says that I can pay for the Crunchyroll subscription through iTunes (the Crunchyroll iPhone app offered me to pay through it), could I use an iTunes gift card and pay through what's already in my iTunes wallet? I'm trying to find proxy ways to pay for the subscription (as I'm sure you could tell). I appreciate the straightforward answers, so thank you again.

You should ask iTunes whether they allow accounts that do not have a payment source linked to start a subscription with just charged balance available.

iTunes subscriptions are different than directly subscribing on Crunchyroll, they handle all of the billing.

I am trying to decide what plan I want since it was dropped recently

I was going to go for Premium Plus because of the HTML.5 player

But now VRV comes along with FUNI / Rooster Teeth nut not available for PC users ! But does that include HTML.5 BETA

You do yourself a big disservice as I was going to reup but I am at a total loss what to go !

Yes it's great you are trying HTML.5 / yes VRV looks good but this and this is a big rant All the upgrades service shoud be available to all platforms ?

I and a lot of others are hestiant and upset their present accounts cant be linked that easily !

Jumping the gun I think !

UPDATE FRI 1 / 27

I see on the Annoucemeny most complaints are about linking ongoing memberships and a lot aboot no PC support which makes no sense / there are quite a few !

I left this off but I think this is a do something now reaction to The Amazon Strike Channels such as Anime . BTW the people who have Amazon Prime have to pay extra to watch the new anime channel .

Who are running these corporations / no common sense it seems really !

And I yet to hear from Funimation about this ! That and Rsster Teeth is what I "would be interested in but not available

Hey I like CR but it has gone way downhill from 2011 as far as reliabiltly and closenees that used to be there,
