Nah, not if they're cool with it. I personally haven't called my parents by their name in years but when I did it was just cause we were messing around. They only found it disrespectful if they were addressed that way in a serious manner.

I don't call them by their first name when I'm talking to them, just mom and dad. But when I talk about them to others, for instance to my grandma, I'll call them by their first name. I also never say 'grandma' when talking about them to my parents, just 'your mom'.

Yes.

Wouldn't know - but I see other people calling their parents by their names quite often.

It isn't inherently disrespectful but if the parents don't like it or if the intent is to distance yourself from familial connections, it becomes disrespectful.

The idea of calling my parents by their first names is pretty weird to me and honestly, I feel like I'll end up being 30 and still calling them Mommy and Daddy lol.

I guess it's only disrespectful if they always preferred you to call them by their family role

Given that I grew up in a household and culture where parents called their parents mummy and daddy until the day they died, no, I don't call my mother by her name.

It's been ingrained into me that I shouldn't call my parents by their names. Honestly, if I think about it though, I don't think it should really matter one way or the other.

Yes it's disrespectful, unless you legitimately hate your parents.

Like how some of my aunts tell me to call them auntie, and then their actual first name. No I just call them by their name, until they smack me over the head I love teasing them. I get it though, it would make someone feel more..... loved, In a way, and i'm sure it just makes people feel significant in other people's lives.

Blah blah blah. Family
