On one had its an interesting glimpse into just how much of a mess this is for them behind closed doors as they try to fill their campaigning and deal with Trump pushing them to rush it through. Without having it blow up in their faces politically.

On the other hand:

"Leaks from internal members discussions are unacceptable," McMorris Rodgers said. "I'm pleased to learn the Congressional Institute, who organizes the annual retreat, will work closely with the Capitol Police and Sergeant at Arms to get to the bottom of this serious breach, as these conversations are intended to allow members to candidly discuss how to address the issues facing the American people."

Now leaks are unacceptable to the GOP who would like to maintain both a "public and private position" as it were. >.>

Well, at least they appreciate they've taken up a political hot potato. Just a question of who they'll leave holding it when it's time for re-election.

I didn't see anything particularly scandalous...

What are you driving at? That Republican Party chairs would cheat for their preferred candidate? How dare they!

It's good to remind people that this kind of crud runs both ways.

I didn't say there was anything particularly scandalous about the contents. Its an interesting glimpse into the mess they've gotten themselves into and how they're working to get out of it. As well as the public/private contrast between the private "This is a complicated and nuanced problem we don't have a clear solution for." vs the public "Obamacare is the greatest horror ever visited on the America people".

What I did say is exactly the point you are now proving. The hypocritical attitude of "It's okay when we do it".

This is a whole lot of nothing, no scandalous words, no bomb-shells dropped, nothing we already don't know.

How can you people pretend this isn't a big deal. It exposes that the GOP have been lieing from day one. They have no idea how to replace ACA they never intended to do so. The 60+ votes to repal were poltical games to manipulate the the right-wing base. They have no plan There just hoping you of the right-wing base will be stupid enough not to blame them when they explode the US healthcare system.

Look I bitched at Obama for not going after the bankers. I still remind my fellow liberal that Obama personally stopped a public option from happening. I Hold the DNC responceable for There actions with Hillary . You of the Right can't continute to pretend we of the left are the "brainwashed" ones when every time the GOP is caught admitting their fucking you over you ignore it. There admitting they have no plan, never did, never though they would really repeal ACA, and know full well it's repeal will harm everyone.

Since when did the Republicans ever try to hide that they hate Obamacare? Their Public and Private position are the same.

breaking news: Republicans want to get rid of Obamacare and are actually thinking how to do it.
it's almost as if they are trying to do what they said they would.

edit:
breaking news: Republicans in Congress haven't thought thinks through and the repeal Obamacare may have been just empty words
Congress being Congress. what else is new.

Rujikin, namealreadytaken Except that's not what there saying here . There saying they never had a replacement, never thought they would repeal it, used it as a boogyman, and know it's repeal will do nothing but harm.

did people really expect the same group that pushed for an unrealistic 20b+ wall along Mexico would have a rock-solid plan on how to replace Obamacare..? i certainly didn't.

So what exactly is hypocritical about this? Republicans saying in public that they hate Obamacare and saying in meetings that it would be difficult to remove without consequences aren't 2 different positions that contradict. There are some who just want to repeal it immediately without thinking of the longterm and there are others who want to wait until they have an actual replacement ready so the transition goes smoothly. They have never fully agreed on when to replace it or what to replace it with. This has been common knowledge for quite some time. How is this even news?

And from that Politico article, it seems that the person who leaked the tapes wasn't supposed to be there anyways. So basically some idiot snuck into a private meeting to try to smear the GOP with a discussion about something everyone already knew about and wasn't even a scandal. Someone must've been real desperate for their 15 minutes of fame before realizing that they failed to get anything that's actually newsworthy. The people who were at that meeting aren't even denying anything. They completely acknowledge that they said these things and aren't really fazed by this other than the fact that someone actually managed to trespass in the first place and hasn't been found.
