I dont think i ever owned any anime on vhs. I didnt buy any until dvd was taking off. But as far as stuff i saw on tv, probably the oldest stuff i remember was astro boy in the 80s. Of course i didnt know what it was then because what kid watching blurry country cable sees it then anything more then another cartoon. I still have a working vcr and tons of vhs' though haha. Every now and then i hook it up just to watch godzilla vs king kong. Its so bad its good!

The first anime VHS I had; I borrowed from my brother's friend Colin. Trigun, baby. I had to haul all those tapes back to him eventually, heh.

I started watching anime before VHS was even invented...

"8 Man" - "8th Man" in the US - was shown on a few US stations back in 1965, and I was lucky enough to see it before they took it off the air.

One of the local stations also showed "Alakazam the Great" every Thanksgiving for a number of years in the 1960s and 70s.

I grew up on Tobor the 8 Man, Gigantor, Prince Planet, Kimba the White Lion and Speed Racer so I was just a few years behind you . I believe my first laser disc was Dirty Pair, Cityhunter or Sonic Borgman imported from Japan but I think it was Speed Racer, Gigantor or Tobor that was my first VHS purchase through budget bins in Dept stores.

I remember getting home from school and Speed Racer and Kimba the White lion were on TV back to Back. Racer X was so cool to me

He was to us all . When I was young they played that same back to back here at 7am (right before the kindergarten bus came). My friends and I had a deal with my father, if we missed the bus due to it, he'd give us a ride to class (usually beatting the bus due to not having to make stops ). He was a fan too .
