Welcome!

As we all know, YOI is a GLOBAL SMASH HIT!! If the product sales and DVD sales do well, we might get a second season! (Kobu-sensei wants to do another season too, but isn't sure if the studio will go for it.)

SO! Buy the official merch and the DVD, if you can. I think doing that can secure a second season for the show.

Now! Discuss! If we get another season, do you think it should focus on Yurio and Otabek? Or go back to Yuri and Victor? Personally, I think Yurabek needs a little love in the cannon of the show with Viccyuri stitched in. Like Yura visiting them at home in St Petersburg! Yura asking Beka to his Papas' wedding! AGAPE TURNS TO EROS! EROS TURNS TO PRAGMA! JUST AS BEFORE WITH THE PIG AND HIS IDOL! LOVE WILL CONCUR ALL ON THE ICE!

Maybe Vicchan and Yuri are retired now and Yura is now a real adult, but (like Vicchan) isn't sure of love or what his true feelings for Otabek are. He loves his friend and his friend loves him, but he's confused as to what they really are to each other after all these years. Being together, being apart. What does he feel about that? What is he thinking? Why is he looking at me like that? He's had a girlfriend now. Why does my chest hurt? He's single. Why am I happy? He must be hurting, I'm a terrible friend. How do I tell him? Will he laugh? Will he leave? Should I be content with how things are?

No.

Victor wasn't happy with that. Yuri wasn't happy with that. When he was younger, Beka wasn't happy with that. I'm not happy with this!!

Something like that. Please! Tell me your thoughts and feelings below. Include art if you wish. What are your ideas/predictions for the possible season 2 of YOI? Do you ship it? Do you think we CAN get a season 2 if we demand it enough?! And will the english dub not suck a huuuuuuuge *popsicle* this time?

Hope to Hear from You Soon!

Yes.

OtaYuri-focused season 2 <3 It needs to happen.

But like. I sort of feel like they always want Yura to be like, the rival. I think the creators said something like, "He wouldn't make a good main character lol" (.... yes he would, if you give him respect as a character).

Also like. Their characterization for Victor and Yuri was all over the place. Like. they'd introduce some theme or feeling in one place, and then like.... not really come back to that, or it wouldn't have an effect on what happens later (like the one episode where Yuri was saying he was going to be super possessive of Victor and make everyone jealous... but that didn't go anywhere, really.)

So.... I dunno. I would love that, but.... I dunno.

I believe an OVA is needed between the two seasons (e.g., a "vacation" for the characters) to maintain interest.

Yuri Plisetsky is a catalyst character -- he couldn't carry a whole season.

what does that even mean, "catalyst character"? If you're trying to say that's his two-dimensional function in the first season - a) that's not really accurate? He does have depth, and b) even if he didn't, they could develop him more in the second season, if they chose to make him the focus.

I'm sure I will enjoy anything they give us. The only thing that would disappoint me is if there isn't a second season.

Things that could be interesting-

A fifteen year old isn't necessarily finished growing. Even small body changes could have a huge effect on Yurio's skating.

A 28 year old is past his peak as a skater. Victor risks possibly serious injury if he pushes too hard.

There's a lot to work out, boundaries to set, etc. when someone is simultaneously a coach, competitor, and life partner. Victor and Yuri have a LOT to work on!

I would almost expect a deepening friendship between Yurio, Victor and Yuri. Yurio needs to mature a little emotionally, though.

Yuri's anxiety issues, while lessening, haven't gone away. Still some things to explore there.

As much as I love some of the other skaters in season 1, we're likely not to see many of them again, as new skaters will appear when new events are entered.

Yuri has to win a gold at some point. and there must be a wedding!

"Catalyst character" is a term for a character that allows the protagonist to progress through the story. It does not discount depth/complexity of character, but tends to limit the relationship to one direction. The actions involving Yurio Plisetsky fed to support the progression of Yuri Katsuki. From Viktor's POV, Yuri's two Ls (life and love) affected Yurio as well, but again that all reciprocated back to Yuri.

IMO, this past season did not leave enough character conflict for Yurio to carry a second season as the protagonist. Yes, the writers could develop him further, but I think he would still fall short. He needs either a movie in between seasons to jumpstart character conflict, or the patience to become MC in a season three (? ).

I wonder if there will be a second season at all, considering they just announced that there's going to be a movie. I'm excited for the movie, but I'd love a second season as well!

Considering that he's a teenager.....and this is anime....yeah, he totally could carry a season.

Also, for an idea: Winter Olympics? Victor and Yuri do their thing while Grumpy Tiger does his.....

He's 15. I mean, we could do a season of him training plus see what his personal life is like, with the grandfather.....

or explore his friendship/relationship? with Otabek and even Victor and Yuri.
