In my case, had Crunchyroll partnered with National Cinemedia (NCM) alongside/instead of Screenvision I might have been able to see this.

All of the movie theaters near me use NCM, except for one Carmike Cinemas location. Which, if you haven't heard, was recently purchased by AMC Theatres and will likely transition from Screenvision to NCM soon.

I went on the Screenvision website to see if any of the theaters nearby me use Screenvision. Fortunately, I'm surrounded (the closest one is around 5 min. away from my house). I will definitely check this out if they show anything that interests me.

Watching anime at a movie theater is gonna be weird. I think I'll keep watching it on my phone, tablet, & pc.

Then you'll be missing out and will regret not doing it, possibly for the rest of your life, and for what? A pause button?

Last year ( and the beginning of this year) I got to see Miss Hokusai, Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke in theaters.
It was a completely different experience than watching it alone, at home.
It's also better than con screenings (unless the con has an actual movie theater) by a long shot.

A mobile device or PC, or even TV with surround sound can't compare to a giant screen and theater sound system.
The other, possibly more important thing you'll never get on your phone, tablet or PC is the crowd.
It's not like watching a show or movie with a couple friends. you're there with a couple hundred people who at least for the duration of the show/movie, are of the same mind as you are.

Until they recently closed & sold the Ziegfeld theater in NYC, (to turn it into a corporate ballroom of all things ) you could rent the place out for private screenings. It had been a dream of mine to do that and watch my favorite anime shows & movies on that giant screen. Also wanted to play video games on it, but yeah. Alas, that can't happen now. In hindsight, I know now the fan base here is big enough that it would have been possible, but can see that deciding on what to show might have been a struggle.

But now that G-Kids, Fathom, and now CrunchyRoll are doing this, I see myself going to the movies a lot more.

This is progress folks. Consider what we had to do to get anime 10, 20, 30 years ago or more.
We've gone from "Learn Japanese, fly to Japan and watch TV or go to a theater there" to bootleg VHS copies, to Suncoast Video, to fansubs you could download in just a few hours, to on demand streaming, to a night out a the movies with a few hundred other anime fans and the people they dragged along for the ride.

For those outside the US, I say be patient. We're the lab rats; if this goes well, and enough of us show up to let content and theater owners see that this is a profitable venture, it'll spread and spread fast.

But its' going to need to be backed up by DVD/BR and merch sales. The Anime studios are still coming to grips with the idea that they can still make money by charging less than the extortion level prices folks in Japan still have to pay for Anime by making up for it with global numbers.

Couple suggestions for CrunchyRoll though. Make sure you get enough theaters and have enough screenings for subbed & dubbed.
The Spirited Away shows sold out quickly, as did the Princess Mononoke screenings. While it was good that they had both Sub & Dub shows, they were on different days instead of a mix on the same day. I had to reschedule so I wound up seeing Mononoke dubbed, which was fine,
The MIss Hokusai screening had the dub following the sub on the same day. Had I known how good that movie is, I might have double stinted to be honest.
Also, the Miyazaki screenings were only at two theaters in Manhattan and none in the other Boroughs. Had I not gotten tickets I would have had to journey to New Jersey, Long Island, or I think White Plains (up to 2 hours away) to see them. That' is ridiculous given the number of theatres in the 5 boroughs.

Oh, and 7pm screenings on weekdays are bad for folks with jobs. Ok, they're bad for folks (me) who get out of work @ 6pm if the theater is more than 30 minutes away, but so fat that hasn't been an issue. 8pm would be way better.

Canada, as always, says hi.

Anyway, I would definitely go and would even be okay with travelling a little for it if the content they were showing is good. Now, pretty much none of what they showed in the reveal trailer appealed to me at all so along with being US exclusive it's not a good start, but I'm definitely on board with the concept even if it's just showing stuff that's already on the site.
