The LNs that most current simulcast animes are based on aren't even available in English yet. Why would people think it's okay to post information from the LNs that isn't (yet) in the anime without even the courtesy of using spoiler tags? I find it very annoying.

No it's not okay. If you see this happen, you can click the "Report to Moderators" link in the post and give as the reason that it contains spoilers from the LN/manga.

Sometimes people just aren't thinking and are careless, so you could also reply to them and politely ask that they put that stuff in spoiler tags. Sometimes they'll respond more quickly than a mod can.

Finally, if it seems a large portion of discussion in an anime thread is about the LN/manga, to the point where it seems as much a discussion about the LN/manga as about the anime, then report that also. That should not be happening. If folks want to discuss the LN or Manga, they should start a thread for it in the appropriate forum.
