So Nintendo is interested in VR I know this isn't news anymore, but I was thinking. Now that the Switch is going to be region free it is quite possible that Nintendo VR could get it's own exclusive version of Summer Lesson VR which released for Japan only on PS4 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0_EZNh503u8

However it will be from Konami here is why: You may have seen or heard of a game back in 2011 called New Love Plus for 3DS https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9TPRA3-HxCM a dating Sim that I've been dying to play because sadly everything else is on PC and most dating Sims look very mediocre or just poorly done.

This game could've come to the U.S if there wasn't so much hate on the genre. Then it got cancelled, if the series continues on in Japan in a port or a new game for the Switch THEN this game could possibly be made as a proper Nintendo VR game for the Switch. That's if Nintendo gets VR working with the dock like it should without too many framerate drops and other issues that come with VR.

Don't take this as confirmation for anything.

considering how underpowered Switch is, we probably shouldn't expect the same level of performance as the Playstation VR - which itself isn't all that powerful. maybe they'll significantly lower details. instead of rendering everything on screen, it'll only render things that are visible, with some delay when the player changes the field of vision (by moving their head). of course, no 60 fps, and maybe not even 30 fps. here's a game for iOS and android which uses VR for comparison's sake:

Nintendo's standards are far above the norm, and you can bet that its VR solution won't be half-baked

ignoring the huge bias aside, i don't see how Nintendo would be able to provide a strong VR that isn't "half-baked" (which i take to mean sacrifices in details and/or fps) given the weak specs. they could try and give the VR headset its own graphic processor, but in that case, they'd need to find a cooling solution, it'd make the heaset heavier, and it'll be more expensive as well.

this is VR quality on the based PS4 vs PS4 pro (Digital Foundry)

i would not bother with VR on the Switch.. Nintendo decided to stick with their under-powered system and now they want VR ?

Good luck with that.

I do expect something close to Samsun Gear VR on the Switch or Google cardboard. So my hopes aren't too high on this one but it's still exciting to see Nintendo considering VR.

if it's like Google Cardboard, people would have no reason to buy Nintendo's, and they would instead buy one off amazon for 10 bucks or so.
if the rumored Nintendo VR headset has its own graphics processor and stuff, it probably won't be cheap. given that the Switch controllers alone costs $80, the headset with dedicated graphics would probably go for well over $100. maybe over $200. either way, i just don't see people lining up in stores to buy the rumored headset.

Eh, I think you're underestimating the Nintendo brand. It's been proven in the past that people will rush out to buy things that are substandard just because it has the Nintendo name on it.
