Gamestop wants to increase used games sales, which is understandable seeing as those have a bigger profit margin. They decided that instead of getting their employees to sell more used games by offering rewards for used sales, they would punish, or flat out fire, employees who sold too many new games and not enough used ones. Yes, this is real and it's lead employees to tell customers that they do not have copies of new games in hopes that they will buy some used games.

I just... every day it feels like there's something else going wrong with these fucking people.

i remember hearing how they try and sell used copies as "new", and some people who buy their games find that the "new" disc had severe scratches, missing booklets, etc. haven't gone to them in ages, and probably never will.

I sold my play station 2 to Game Stop for twelve dollars when I was young thinking I was going to run away from home. I bought pizza with the money and then knew I fucked up.

Hopefully you were a teenager. I mean, no one would take that deal if it was a kid, right? RIGHT?!

I was determined and yes this was when I was a kiddo. No more guitar hero was the saddest part. That or being swindled when you're just a kid.

lmao what? You were on the run? Your other posts make you seem completely sociopathic so it's weird to think of you "running away". And you sold a playstation to run away? For 12 dollars? Bruh that's like a one night meal lmao

What's new? GameStop is shady anyways. No I don't want to buy a gutted NEW copy of the game you guys probably took home and played.
Thank God for Amazon and just straight up digital sales. Haven't stepped into a GameStop since PS4 launch. Pre-ordering consoles is the only thing their good for.

I was on their website to look at Red Dead Redemption price - $29.99 used for the 360 . Then there was a listing of a NEW copy for Xbox One with all dlc for $14.99 . Couldn't believe my eyes at first . I then reserved a copy & went down immediately to snatch it up . When I got there they tried the "We don't have it new BS . they tried to sell me the used game for the 360 for double . I then showed them the e-mail confirmation and that they were in stock ..BUSTED ! This was over a month ago also . Thank God for Steam ....

When Wal-Mart or Best Buy is the better option for buying a physical copy of a game than a dedicated video game store, you know you screwed up.

Oh well, I buy most of my games digitally or through online retailers these days anyway.

I was young and I really liked pizza? I had a plan it was to enjoy pizza on the side of the road.

Never had this problem with GameStop, they always have new games available where I live. I went to GameStop a few days ago and the cashier told me they had new copies of PS Vita games. (along with other games for other consoles.)

I do a fair amount of "impulse buying" from Gamestop.
While they do have a lot of shady practices in some of them, it really depends on the store. I've noticed that when there isn't much competition (in terms of "competing Gamestops") they're not as bad as those that do. I guess it's mostly because they'll quickly shut down any Gamestop that isn't competing directly with another Gamestop nearby.

I get wrapped games that are completely new from Gamestop. The issues I've normally have had with them are pre-orders - they'll sell your pre-order within 12 hours (in some cases) if you don't pick it up on the release date. In many cases, I'd rather go to Amazon for pre-orders (but with the Resident Evil 7 collector's edition - nobody else had it, unfortunately).

I've only used gamestop a few times quite some time ago.

It was a waste so I didn't go again.

Besides I just order things off amazon.

That's how they stay afloat. Giving you $20 store credit for a fairly new game then selling it for $54.99. Their used prices where always atrocious.

I bought Last Guardian last night. I asked if they had a used copy but they didn't. It was the last copy so it was "gutted." I gave the guy some puppy dog eyes and he hooked me up with a few bucks off. That was cool of him.

I don't have a problem with my local Gamestop. The guys and girls that work there are pretty cool. They still try to push reserves on me though.
