I read the follow-up article containing responses from current and former employees. Man, that sucks!

I have never been a fan of the company, especially since I used to work for the EB Games side of it (before they bought it and more or less liquidated it), but my local store is one of the good ones. They know what I buy (e.g. JRPGs), they do not try to push anything on me, and they let me pre-order what I want with no hassle. *shrugs* Good people. Most of them have been there for a long while, too.

With this news getting more traction, I gonna guess alot of peoples jobs are going to get harder. Associates at my store for the most part do an honest job and don't try to sell me anything I'm not interested in or sell me pre-owned even if theres a new copy available. Kinda feel bad for them cause some customers who find out about all of this might just second guess those associates.

This explains why every time I ask for a sealed copy, the employee gives me that odd look and deliberately tries to dent and ruin the case of whatever game I'm buying.

And ever since EBGames changed up its website, everything new is sold out everywhere but when you go directly and ask, they have it.

It always seams like amazon has better deals on used games. I haven't shopped at gamestop in a couple years. I have no plans on ever shopping their again after reading this blog.

Not only that, but some of my friends who work/have worked for Gamestop say the managers and how scheduling works is quite poor as well. Most of the managers schedule a good handful of the workers for a ridiculously low amount of hours per week (Between four and eight, yes. FOUR.) because most of the stores wish to spend the least they can on employees, on top of that since everything is about pre-orders and used games, they basically brush off whatever else they have done. It's their way or the highway.

They going bankrupt, that's why. Trying to delay the inevitable. If u watch their management on CNBC, they like to overpromise to stockholders, "big league". EPS (Earnings Per Share) is everything.

But of course...

Luckily EB games Australia (Gamestop) is no where near as scummy.

I always hear about bad trade in prices but i bought in an old last gen game and got $20 for it.
sold my old 3ds for $80 i would of gotten more online but i wanted to get rid of it fast.

Merica gamestop could learn a thing or two.

You gotta know the people there personally and you won't get screwed. My friend works at Gamestop and I've known him since I was 3. He doesn't screw me at all or lie to me. I get info and stuff early, but I guess that's just a perk. But I guess I'm just lucky.

When I noticed that Amazon Prime gives you a 20% discount on pre-order games a couple months ago, I started ordering through there instead of digitally. I understand wanting to browse, but if you know what you're looking for, there seem to be better options than a specialty shop that doesn't really seem to care about it's customers.

I'm not shocked. There are enough horror stories around here about Gamestop (locally) that you don't need an article to know they're shady.

People still buy from GameStop? The place is crap. Overpriced on everything and customer service is crap too. I've only ever bought one game from them and still regret giving them my service.
