Are online relationships worth it, whether they be romantic or just friendly?

If the other person gives super basic, half-assed responses during a conversation, then it's not worth it. If they put effort into their responses and don't have a personality that makes you want to reach through the screen and poke them in the eye, then it is worth it.

Ehhhh friendly is a better bet, I've met some of my best friends through league of legends. As for romantic, it depends on your willingness, but from my point of view, it's always best to meet someone before dating. Even if that means planning to date someone that you meet online in the future.

To be honest, I could care less for the romantic aspect. I thought I would just include it to induce some conversations haha. Now about the friendly aspect, that's what I'm finding to be a bit of a waste for the reasons I gave in the OP.

Hai Hai.

I think its worth it. As Otaku are surprisingly hard to come by lol in my situation Ive friends etc that like games and music etc but not many that can sit down and binge watch anime or hold a discussion about it. Or that are into J culture. So its cool chatting with different people.

Ive had varying experiences with replies etc and that's fine some people are busy and not only that but if the inbox has a few unread its easy to miss a message.

Some of the discord groups are cool.

An online relationship isn't worth it unless it is romantic!

I've met some really cool people online, even met a couple of em in person. It can be worth it, but theres no substitute for meeting someone in person and building a bond from there.
Same for relationships. If someone tries to communicate with me exclusively through messaging, it's a no from me.

That all depends on the specific people and relationships. You can't really generalize something like this.

Sure are, some of my best friends I've met online I met playing MMOs with them over a decade again and eventually met some of them in real life. Also, recently met some pretty awesome people here on the CR forum board, they know who they are and glad to call them my friends

As for romance, well a buddy of mine met his wife off another anime forum board and is still happy married years later, so definitely can work out sometimes.

lol when i was 13 and first discovered crunchyroll i actually did have a make believe romance here. all we did was talk on the phone every day, it was basically a friendship but we were both little and dumb so we called it a relationship

For friendship, I would say it can be worth it depending on the people. I have a person I've met nearly a year ago and we still talk! It's good to have someone as a friend online because you feel like you can tell them everything! It feels more open than when you first meet someone in person.

Ahh, the days of 13 year-old relationships. Looking back at my personal experience, I can quite frankly say it was perhaps the most cringe thing I've ever done.

Oh, yes. Everything we did at that age was cringe.
That was the age I wrote sasuke fanfiction while listening to music from crappy AMV's on youtube

LOL I can totally relate to the AMV thing.

Although I do still watch them, purely for the editing. Music is something to be enjoyed on its own for me now.

Two things are needed:
That you are available and someone wants to talk to you, you need both.
It's too bad OP can't ask their buddies about it.
