So what do you think?

Lately I've been thinking they may be a waste of time. I'm trying to socialize with a few people on here (to make a few anime loving buddies), but I usually end up getting ignored or end up deleting the person because they never respond. I mean I can see they are active, because they do post in the forums and I go to their page to see what's up...and there they are talking to other people. So yeah, it may be me haha. BUT I really am starting to think they are a waste of time.

EDIT: I know people have a life outside of this site, so I by no means expect they to reply to my messages right away. But when I see that they are active on this site and just don't reply to my message, it kinda does tick me off.

I find if you're going to socialize with people online crunchy isn't the easiest site to do it through, try to get them on facebook, twitter, steam etc, more variety and it's easier to just chat, you can feel free to add me anytime

After consideration, I'd probably have to say 'no, probably not, but you take what you can get."

I think the problem is that you are expecting too much out of it. Online relationships do happen, but it requires both people to be engaged. Which is difficult due to other responsibilities. It really does sound like you want more than what you can get right now, and I would suggest tempering your expectations.

If you like, you can message me and chat about anime. I will go periods without logging on though, just as an example.

Online relations not my thing I would feel like there is distance, I myself prefer the closeness of the person i'm seeing.

Yeah, online relationships are worth it.

Sometimes I talk to someone online and we hit it off or sometimes we don't but it's the same way with people in real life as well. There are a couple of people online whom I consider to be my real friends. Actually, about 7 years ago (-shivers- from how old I am) I met an online friend on this website and later we dated. We dated for about 4 years and met each other in person 5 times. At the moment we're considering marriage and moving in together which is great cause the whole long distance part sucks.

But yeah it's possible to make friends or a lover but I find it that you shouldn't force a relationship and just let it come naturally. I feel that the more older we get the harder it is to make friends because we forget how to.

Depends in what context. I've met a lot of friends through social media environments, and I've also had some relationships. The relationships always seemed to turn out toxic in the end after the fantasy bubble built came crashing down with reality. I'm not saying its not possible. I even thought it was, but a separation of online relationships with physical relationships should be considered as the latter can be soul destroying.

Yep. I hate limitations such as "what's available". Friendship shouldn't be on the same level as a desperation job.

Just as some people have mentioned, I feel as though you are expecting a lot, at least initially. Continue to and figure out better ways to introduce yourself to new people, and then speak to those who decide to respond. You can run into some interesting folk. Met a dude who's a melee instructor from Norway, and he fights with axes and other weaponry. Cool stuff.

Highly suggest joining a Discord server, too, if you prefer more immediate responses.

*edit*

lol Just thought of useful advice on how to avoid people who are less likely to respond. Try to look into threads in which there are people who specifically state they are looking for conversation. The liveliness of a person's profile is also a good indicator on how much they want to socialize. For me personally, I find that it is much easier to initiate a conversation with someone if their profile provides something to which I can relate.

Connecting with someone in general is always worth it. However if they're not replying to you then they probably want nothing to do with you lol But I would love to be an Anime loving buddy with you.

online relationships can be very worthwhile! long-distance can be sort of a pain but as long as the love's there it's all good

They are worth it. You can never have to much experience dealing with people and putting yourself out there. Life is short. You learn things from new people no matter if you only know them from the web or otherwise.

It's no different than time spent wasted on the internet forums, video games or anime.

If you find happiness in it then it's time well spent. Plus it might give you experience to deal with people in the real world.
