This post is going to be filled with spoilers, so HEADS UP!!

Skip to the bold part if you just wanna read my theory and get on with it.

So we know where "Kiss-Shot" came from: straight from the vampire that turned Kiss-Shot in the first place. It referenced the fact that in order to lift the curse that was causing people to go all suicidal in her presence, she'd need the kiss of a prince.

The last part of her name, "Heart-Under-Blade", is quite literally the breakdown of how her name is spelled. I'm not well-versed in Japanese writing, so I'm going to take a guess and say it's the kanji of "heart" written under the kanji for "blade" (see? Simple)

Now the only part that isn't explained is that pesky middle section "Acerola-Orion". Just what does it mean? I've Googled this so many times, making sure to phrase my question differently each time, but have yet to even read a theory. So using a popular anime forum such as this, I'll voice my idea/theory against everyone's will because internet

After searching into the two words, I have 2 guesses:

1. The meaning of this part will be explained by the author later, or (my theory)

2. "Acerola", which is a fruit that appears as a cherry, but has a "sharp" flavor to it, could indicate the colour she's always wearing or is always used to portray her character, and her tsundere personality (looks like a cherry, but tastes very different); and "Orion", meaning - in Greek - "rising in the sky, or dawning", which could represent her curse, and later, her divination into godhood by the village she saved, her social status as a princess, her beauty being far more than anyone who sees her could imagine, etc. Pretty much her pattern of being elite or prestige.

Of course, maybe it's supposed to remain unanswered as a way to keep her vampiric and still-mysterious character that: mysterious. In which case, I think it's our duty to theorize and speculate and enjoy this moment of mystery regarding [most] everyone's favorite loli.

If any of my info or definitions are wrong, lemme know so I can adjust what I need to!

It is. Shinobu is written as that, but while she was literally called "Heart-Under-Blade", Meme Oshino called her Shinobu so she could still hold on to some part of her name.

You might want to put some of the parts that are most spoilers under a spoiler tag--to do that, click "Edit" then select those portions and click the exclamation point icon from the icons above the editing box. That automatically adds the tags. You can type them in manually too:

BTW, this wasn't really General Discussion, so I've moved it to Books & Comics since that's where Light Novels discussions take place, and I've edited the title to add some clarity.

You can create a whole research department just trying to study the Japanese naming conventions for anime/manga.
