100x yes I dont know why everybody only knows the one accent.
To be fair though the stereotype that we all spend most our day drinking tea is true.

Funny you should say that, I'm not much for tea, hahaha. Not much for crumpets, either. If they know more than one accent though, it's always just the cockney one, because to be honest, a lot of Americans think that the entire of England is London.

Really, I tend to think of England as Yorkshire, the West Country, and London.

Argh...Used to live in England, but it went really downhill.

My god, a lot of people there are so trashy. Pissing in the streets, wild parties, drinking till dawn, outrageous behavior, etc. etc.

I live in the States now and even though the world just loves to hate on America, it's still a great country.

Oh man, the classism in this country, especially when all it's based on is accent, annoys the hell out of me. I was born in London, but grew up in Sheffield. When I moved back down here when I was 8, I got so much crap for the way I spoke. I've been here in London long enough to have mostly shifted into the Estuary accent, but on certain words my previous accent is still there, apparently. It's so frustrating to even have my friends ignoring what I'm actually saying in favour of having me repeat certain words because they think it sounds hilarious when I say them.

It's not even just a North/South divide, really. It seems like everyone just hates each other. For instance, I know tons of Londoners who hate others based on what part of London they're from.

anyone from england have a family ties with someone who has a title?

Is that another random stereotype across the pond? That there are many LORD XAVIER CHARLES BUCKINGHAMSHIRE THE THIRD type people?

That's even less common than rare. That's like...ULTRA RARE.

If there are any brats who's parents paid for them to get into Cambridge, then possibly there? Although, I bet many people have ancestors who had a title, back when it was much more common. Not me though, apparently my family were highway men.

Loads of people realise what the current state is, and they're not ignoring it, it just doesn't matter. England is one of the few countries moving in the right direction, trust me.

I'm from England and I'm currently learning Japanese in the hopes of moving over and starting a life somewhere in Kansai (Kyoto maybe). Anyway, I just want a simple life really. I'm fed up of being stuck in one place being told WORK HERE. DO THIS. NOW THIS. I just want to move on and meet a new bunch of people in a totally new lifestyle. I guess Japan would be the best place for me to do this since I have the most in common with them as opposed to any other people.

I guess we'll see how life plays out, although it would suck leaving my friends / family etc.

Just a word of warning, finding any job beyond English teacher is notoriously difficult in Japan.
