I've been wanting to watch Diamond is Unbreakable for a while but I put if off to watch all the preceding Jojo anime series first.

It seems the more time passes the more I seem to come across Diamond is Unbreakable memes and references on various sites around the internet. It annoys because i like to go into something with as close to zero information as possible, and I'm worried I'm going to walk right into a spoiler when I'm not expecting it, which already happened to me with Attack on Titan a few years ago.

Do I need to watch all of Stardust Crusaders to fully enjoy/understand Diamond is Unbreakable or can I jump right into it?

I would definitely watch Stardust Crusaders. Sure, there are many elements of the story that don't carry over. But without spoiling anything, there are some important details that are only explained in Stardust.

*edit* Actually, you need to watch Stardust, now that I think about it. A whole new mechanic is introduced in Stardust xD.

You have to watch Stardust Crusaders. Just do your best to avoid spoilers and good luck.

Edit: Or you could read the manga. I think it's faster that way and it's almost exactly the same as the anime series.

The anime does add a few cool animated sequences that are nice butI still recommend reading the manga. That way you get no blood censorship and no stupid name changes (Anyone calling him "Dan of Steel" can die in a hole) And start at the beginning. Phantom Blood is easily the worst part but the worst part of Jojo's is like being the worst part of Citizen Kane, so its definitely still worth it.

Although the JoJo community is by far the least cancerous online fandom I've come across, they love their memes. Some include major spoilers. Your best bet is to just avoid the subject of jojo online. I came across a few minor spoilers even though I'd only look into things pertaining to parts I've already finished. Luckily it was nothing major.

If by chance you finish part 4 and want to read the manga. It's almost all in color on for download on JoJo's colored adventures website. Sadly part five being the exception. Also I don't think the new translation for part 5 is finished and the old one was awful. It more or less removed the characters personalities.
