+1 to Windows 10 Cortana (Anime) News Feed... got it within hour of PR live time.

"Blizcon for CR." But unlikewise, being done/hosted 3rd party, so expect "commercialisation"/"everything overpriced". Also, the PR claims CR had +1 million paid subs, 20 million accounts. Nevertheless, wonder what specials await...

That, and BTW, E3EXPO open to 15,000 public ticket sales; starting next week. Indeed, 2017 is the year to...

EDIT: The Official crunchyroll.com/news linked a WSJ that also has a bit more information about CR. Looks like SOMEONE is trying to raise capital....

CR, Listed on NASDAQ? Or bought out by resulting ATT/Timer Warner merger? And what of FUNimation? Indeed, as Only Time Shall Tell...

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 9, 2017) - Crunchyroll, Inc., the leading global destination and platform for anime and manga, today announced the first-ever Crunchyroll Expo, an extraordinary anime event that will be held on August 25-27, 2017 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA. Fans are invited to sign up at www.crunchyrollexpo.com for more information, including when tickets go on sale.

Crunchyroll Expo will present three jam-packed days of anime, manga, games, cosplay, and more. Fans can expect everything they already love about Crunchyroll's appearances at past conventions -- unique exhibits, immersive activations, and access to massive crowds of Japanese and American guests. The event will also feature a host of special events, premieres, and interactive features focused around anime pop culture, the latest content coming out of Japan, and ways for fans to connect with each other to share their passion for anime. In addition to anime, Crunchyroll will bring together key partners, exhibitors, and influencers from the video game, manga, and cosplay worlds to keep fans excited and engaged the whole weekend.

"Crunchyroll has always invested in anime conventions. It's the best way to interact with our biggest fans, and with Crunchyroll Expo, we're taking the best aspects of con-life and going next-level," said Dallas Middaugh, head of events at Crunchyroll. "Crunchyroll has a special relationship with our fans and we're uniquely positioned to give back to those fans with an incredible experience."

With over one million paid subscribers, 20 million registered users, and 800 titles, Crunchyroll is the largest online home for anime. Collectively, fans spend billions of minutes per month on the platform viewing anime content, enjoying manga, participating in discussions, and catching up on the latest Japanese pop culture news. Crunchyroll Expo will give fans a new opportunity to interact with the Crunchyroll brand and content they love.

Supporting Crunchyroll in this exciting endeavor will be LeftField Media. "At LeftField Media, we know fans," said Greg Topalian, founder of the company. "Our team has built pop culture events around the world, and our goal with all of them is to create an environment where fans can be themselves and bond with others over shared enthusiasm. We bring this same goal to what we're helping to create at Crunchyroll Expo. By combining our planning expertise with Crunchyroll's anime knowledge, we know we'll create something anime fans will be excited about for years to come."

Crunchyroll Expo will launch in the bright, modern Santa Clara Convention Center, a robust event venue with 100,000 square feet of exhibit space and ample facilities for panels, premieres, screenings, and special events. Santa Clara itself, located in Northern California, is in the heart of Silicon Valley and a short distance from Crunchyroll's headquarters in San Francisco.

Ya I broke this news story right as it happened this moring with the 4am Press Release. Even +50min before ANN.

They just recently posted the news now on their site less hour ago, so now I suppose "people believe it is for real now", of course...

This will be special event, though. Like World Of Warcraft's BlizzCon. Special focus on CR titles with guests/events. Probably a surprise.

So not ur "typical con". But we shall see....

Careful what u wish for. CR servers are tame, compared to the monstrosity that is FUNimation at the moment. But yes, still annoying... especially peak times...

Good lord. Crunchyroll fans just want better servers, more anime, and some freaking site updates to take us out of the internet stone age. God forbid any of that delicious Chernin money get reinvested in that sort of stuff. Instead it's like "ohhhh lets continue to increase our convention presence as our only form of fan outreach (and make a buck or two while doing it!)! That's all fans really want us to do, right? They're just a bunch of pathetic little weebs who want to fly out to California and dress as Narto frogs after all."

I agrre with you and AK completly / even the website with
its 505 errors / only 5 comments on the Show Page is also big problems!

I first used CR in 2011 subscribed not soon after that for almost no-stop until last month . Despite many tickets / thre annoying standard reply letter which is kinda of a travestry !

Now CR has an HTML.5 player which is ony available on the $ 12.95 plan for now

Even more confusing is the VRV coolection of sites again only available too app's for phones devices and no HTML. 5

Thanks CR you seem to care about lofty goals / but forget longtime fans before the huge increases . I remember if we lucky to have to get 10 new anime a season but with the growth they forgot the TECH side !

So where are all these fans a show discusion ( even a top watched show ) sometiimes only gets 5 to 10 posts.

So even if a fan pays $6.95 a month that's 7 million a month . Now I know licensing is a huge cost even with rumors of Amazon paying well over a $ 1,000,000 for a show last year .

That being said CR can find money for conventions / sponsor NYC Anime-CON but dont upgrade the distrubution of anime .

Just think CR IDK how mant people have left but you could have 1.5 million subs maybe if you took care of everything!

That certainly came out of nowhere, but I should have expected that something like this is coming, especially since they just passed the 1 million mark for subscribers. But in any case, with a lot of web traffic here that the servers need quite a lot of updating to handle the tremendous growth of this site. Anyway, I'm hoping that they can put on an amazing experience when they hold their convention right across the street from Levi's Stadium.
