Sure you can look in a dictionary and find what the courage means. But what does the word mean to you on a personal or philosophical level. What do you think?

sum1 leik dis

"This was the noblest Roman of them all.
All the conspirators save only he
Did that they did in envy of great Caesar.
He only in a general honest thought
And common good to all, made one of them.
His life was gentle, and the elements
So mixed in him that Nature might stand up
And say to all the world, “This was a man."

it's a small wonder that i see a lot of people who are like that in fiction. even if prideful for example, they manage it well around others

irl and on these forums though, u don't get too many of these types lol. all dem people who are like "win win win i must win11" with little tact and/or dishonest tactics

Courage to me is fighting the odds in an attempt to win despite knowing your odds of winning aren't so good (Examples: fighting city hall, creating petitions, marching, fighting cancer, fighting for your dream job/career, etc).

I remember making the obvious "What makes the Hottentots so hot, what puts the 'ape' in 'apricot'?" joke before, so this must be another Q-resurrected thread.

Merging it with another neurotically personal-resurrected thread, I define it as not pondering suicide every five minutes...So, how's that therapy coming along?

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.
- Franklin D. Roosevelt

that is, despite your fears, stand your ground and defend or fight for what your believe is right.

Doing what has to be done regardless of how afraid you actually are. That you can look what is causing the fear in you in the eye and still be able to do what has to be done. Courage is a state of mind that can not be so easily accessed nor defined but when you find it your life is never the same as it was before.

Really though OP I am not sure how to define it in my own words. Some people have called me Brave, others stupid, still more have called me suicidal. I have my scars as we all do but I've never backed down once in my life when faced with something I care about. Courage is more then the soldier facing his enemy, it's more then a patriot facing an unjust government, it's more then the journalist risking their life to get the stories that matter. Courage is something you have to find yourself, something you have to learn first hand, and something you have to hold close with your own two hands.
