Has anyone seen Edge of Seventeen featuring Hailee Steinfield? It reminds me of a modern, more upbeat version of Catcher and the Rye (a novel which I absolutely hate).

Juno is another popular one I guess, it didn't really make an impression on me.

What are some coming of age films you have seen?

Sing Street was on of the best films of 2016. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend you give it a shot (i believe it's available on netflix). It's one of the best coming of age stories I've seen in a long time. It's about a kid from Dubland, Ireland in the 80's who starts a band to impress a girl he thinks is out of his league.

Stand By Me is probably my all time favorite.

Sandlot, Breakfast Club & Superbad are up there too.

II still stand by the John Hughes films I grew up with ...
The Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles
Pretty in Pink
Weird Science
Some Kind of Wonderful
Career Opportunities
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Even the Home Alone movies he did were genius. Everything he touched turned to gold.
