So the point of the article is people breaking the law are fearful of being caught and punished.

also, Canada did welcome migrants with open arms so... maybe once other countries have to deal with migrants in the numbers we do, then they will stop bitching to America how "hurtful" we are
edit: I have nothing against migrants as a person/people , I knewone who was a friend of myfamily for 50 years, he then got deported, it is their own fault, even if you live here for so many years and still don't try and get a citizenship? that's on them. not sorry.
sad? yes, I lost a friend but again its their own fault for coming illegally and then not even getting a citizenship
also, only god knows how many of these are criminals fleeing
double edit: I do want to add that your never-do-bad Obama deported 2 million so ireally don't understand the big deal, its just because its trump that's really the only reason why there is "chaos"

I think this is the point of the article:

"On Wednesday, the immigration and refugee clinical program at Harvard Law School issued a report stating that Mr. Trump’s executive orders on immigration made the United States “not a safe country of asylum” for people fleeing persecution and violence."

Make of that what you will.

There is a legal system that one can utilize if they have a legit asylum claim; many of those migrating illegally are economic migrants. It is not our responsibility of our tax payers to pay for the social services of foreign nationals from nations who do not invest in their own citizens. Time to start turning some screws and get the rich in their respective countries to start paying their fair share of taxes. If we have to start turning some screws in terms of visa and trade restrictions to finally get some real change, so be it.

Why flee one insane asylum to another run by the insane?

And that legal system for asylum seekers has a backlog of over 620,000 cases, and can result in wait times of up to six years, often while being detained for months or years, incurring hefty legal fees and leaving your family in danger.

You can't say "just use the legal system" if the legal system isn't working like it is supposed to.

Not so much welcomed as given a fair chance with legal representation to plead their case. And only about half of them were approved for various forms of asylum anyway. Though I do guess it is much more then you Yanks do, have done in quite a while to be fair to your snark filled opening post.

But hey we're just following the ideals our founding fathers set out. You Yanks might want to try it sometime, your founding fathers had some pretty noble ideals after all.

Completely untrue.

http://www.snopes.com/obama-deported-more-people/

Obama continued the trend of every previous President before him that more and more people from the US are being deported every year. Considering population is always growing, that alone makes perfect sense.

But even then he only deported 235,413 people, nowhere near 2 million. The US deported 2.1 million people total between 1892 and 1997.

You might want to edit out that "I have nothing against migrants" bit. Denying the obvious only makes you look worse.

Isn't that like the American thing to do? They've been doing it longer then either one of us has been alive . Why should she stand out from her countrymen?

I had revised the real actually motivation behind the immigration toward the developed nations in http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-979115/re-evaluating-the-meaning-of-social-advancement?pg=0 where the idea that advanced societies is desirable then more basic societies is challenged. The root causes behind the immigration is more complex than previously assumed; it may have links with: Globalization of the economy, Neo-Colonialism, and the puppet governments created by the transnational corporation.
