Submission must NOT include mention or depiction of any copyrighted material (including but not limited to music, films, books, television programming, etc.) and must not infringe on any third-party trademarks (including, but not limited to brand names, product names, logos, insignia, location signage, photographs, artwork, etc.), with the exception of Crunchyroll;

Does anyone know if you can email someone on staff at Crunchyroll specifically to try and get an answer? I mean if my video breaks the rules it breaks the rules cause I can't film anymore at this point but I want to know if I even have a chance or not. Not mentioning any anime at all, in a 'why I like anime' video just seem, well kind awkward and weird, that is like telling someone to tell you what they love about orchestra but have them not mention a single instrument, it doesn't make any sense.

You're supposed to make an image or video of how anime makes you feel, as in happy, sad, crazy, etc., or whatever emotion it makes you feel while watching it, not one about why you like anime. So, they're looking for emotional content, which you can do and express without mentioning specific anime, not an explanation of why you like watching anime. Basically they want to know how watching anime makes you feel, rather than a reason of why it makes you feel that way.

'2. Post on Twitter or Instagram an image or video or via email to winner@crunchyroll.com with #CRmillion showing how anime makes you feel. Crazy, happy, sad, or any other crazy emotion(s) you feel when watching anime are all valid. '

So, I think that you're overthinking this just a little.

though i understand the need to post the whole Terms and what-not, hardly anyone will bother to read the whole thing.
also, bold the following:
Each Entrant must be a Premium Plus member of the online community Crunchyroll.com. ... Any individuals who purchase a Crunchyroll Premium Plus membership after the Start Date will not be eligible for play.

tl;dr you must have a premium+ membership before CR starts accepting submissions. late premium+ users will NOT be eligible.
also, regular premium users will NOT be eligible as well.

edit: wait, why is this posted in site support / minor question and not in general..?

edit2:
Requests for the names of the winners must be received no later December 31, 2015.
what

edit3: Premium+ users from the United States are NOT eligible.

Dude, are you kidding me? You have to be PAYING THEM MONEY to even enter this?

The contests they're having are to celebrate them getting to the one million paying users mark, so that's why the contests are for paying members only and not for free members, to thank the paying members for them getting to this milestone. To be fair though, the Monday through Wednesday contests were open to all members, just the Thursday and Friday ones are paying members only.

on a "positive" note, this was first open to premium plus members only (so even regular premium users were excluded at first)
but they have since changed and now both premium and premium plus are eligible. the free user is not though.
it might be possible to participate with a trial account, but we have yet to receive clarification on this.
(they also forgot to include US premium users at some point)

Actually, it was open to regular Premium members from the beginning, they had just posted old T&Cs from an old contest at first. Miles stated this in one of the early posts in the general contest forum and the T&Cs have now been edited to reflect that. Note that the date that Champagne-Supernova put in bold is from 2015.

So just a quick question but does anyone understand what they mean when they say 'animated symbols or emojis aren't allowed'? Does that mean part of my little picture/video cannot be moving or does it just mean symbols and emojis you can find online specifically?

Also if we make a small video do we still have to put it in JPEG format? Cause wouldn't that wreck the fact that it's a video?

Thoughts on my questions would be greatly appreciated! :sweatingbullets:

They're actually talking about anything that they, Crunchyroll, would have to pay for in order to be able to see your entry.

From the official T&Cs for the Trip to Japan contest: 'Submissions must NOT include use of web links, photos, animated symbols or emojis, or symbols or emojis that must be purchased for use. Standard free emojis and symbols are permitted.'

Ones that you can get for free are allowed.

As for your question about the video, I directly quoted Miles in the main forum thread about the content asking about just that, yet have yet to receive a response. I want to make a video submission myself, but I don't want it to be ineligible because it's too long or the wrong format. As far as I know, you can't make a video be JPEG format.

i think CR meant to say, "if you're going to send us an image, send us as a jpeg format"
i'm not too sure how they're going to handle video submissions. maybe the option of submitting video was added as a mistake?
(there's been plenty of mistakes in the rules already, so that's not all that unlikely)

I don't think that the being able to submit a video thing is a mistake, since that option has been there since the first day they posted the details about the contests. The only thing that they added was the email entry thing to it.

From the first day that they announced the details of the contest (since I quoted the whole thing in my first forum post I made in the main contest thread).
'2. Post on Twitter or Instagram an image or video with #CRmillion showing how anime makes you feel. Crazy, happy, sad, or any other crazy emotion(s) you feel when watching anime are all valid.'

What it says now.
'2. Post on Twitter or Instagram an image or video or via email to winner@crunchyroll.com with #CRmillion showing how anime makes you feel. Crazy, happy, sad, or any other crazy emotion(s) you feel when watching anime are all valid.'

I don't see why it would be a mistake if they gave it as an option at the beginning, yet haven't taken it away by now, the first day that you can submit things for that contest.

I think that you only need to fill out the registration form that they're talking about if you actually win. I know that it's confusing since they put it under the How To Enter rules, but I think that they have to put that in there there and not later so that you know about the form before thinking of how you'll enter, if that makes sense. It's probably just something where you put your real name, birth date, etc. on so that they know you're really you and all that.

Either that, or it's something left over from an old contest that you don't to do for this one. They did copy the T&Cs for an older contest without editing it at first for this one, so it might have been overlooked.

It says that if you win you will be notified by email or phone. So I'm assuming they'd use whatever email address or phone number you have connected with those accounts to contact you, if that's what you're asking. They'd probably verify the Crunchyroll account then.

'6. POTENTIAL WINNER NOTIFICATION: The potential GP Winner will be contacted via email and/or telephone on or about February 24, 2017.'

This is how you feel. FEEL, not a prop show, not why you should win, not what animes you like or which anime makes you feel what way.

Anime in general. How do you feel when you watch it? For me, some makes me laugh, some makes me cry, some make me want to flip a table when the twist in the story is nothing like I damn well want!!!

and they dont want other peoples products in it, because they will show the winning images im guessing (you give up yoru rights to it) so they cannot advertize or sell someone elses product on there page. Espeically saying hey you adding this charcter got you a win!

You need a creative way to show your feelings.

Can we get an answer from someone at Crunchyroll about the video length and format please? Otherwise I'm just going to submit mine in whatever format it comes out as. JPEG is not a file format used for video.

My only question is, is taking a guest mandatory? One person getting a week off of work/school etc is one thing, but asking someone else to as well with what, 3 months advance notice, just getting a passport can take 8 weeks at times lol, plus all the rules about being screwed over if the flights don't leave as scheduled etc, so you're going to need some safety money too, enough for two people...
